My Current (8/4) Avatar is of a Northwest style dive helmet built for Portland divers Fred Devine and Art Zimmerman in the mid-1940's. This helmet was used on the Diamond Knot salvage job, and has many features typical of a NW Helmet.

OK - I have an avatar! It's a picture of an Orca I took while surfing. Ok - it's a picture of an Orca I took while at Sea World in San Diego. The surfing story sounded more exciting. Why an Orca? They are my favorite, period. I could watch them for days and not get bored.
My favorite Shamu story is from when my son was 5. We were visiting Sea World of Ohio and all he wanted was to pet Shamu. It was his birthday and we were able to get him in the Shamu Show! He was in seventh heaven. After giving Shamu several commands and feeding him some fish the trainer said "OK, now do this" and wiped her hands on her wetsuit. Our son wiped his fishy hands down the front of his shirt and then smelled so bad that we bought him a new shirt!
Great story. I bet he will never forget that day. But I thought Shamu was in the San Diego Sea World. Are you telling me there are more than one Shamu? Say it isn't so - I would be devastated!
My son (13) wants to become a marine biologist. Each summer he spends a week at a program at Seymore Marine Lab in Santa Cruz. Part of the program is working with dolphins, seals and seal lions. How come kids get to have all the fun?
if i remember correctly, there are more than one shamu's in each location. i remember hearing some time back that there might be around 6 or 7 per location for all the shows. but i could be mistaken on that.
in 7th grade my class went to SPACE CAMP for a field trip!! it was awesome! except that i rode G-force 4 times in a row and puked! but other than that it was fantastical! lol
Gosh, we never had a field trip to any place as cool as Space Camp! I do have to say though that I did the same thing with the "Rotor" at Cedar Point when I was in 6th grade. The line was really short so I just kept getting back on it. I've never ridden it again!
My Avatar is the first purchase I made after my tank had been established a few months. I know now how wrong it was especially since I had normal output lighting for the first year.
