for stick-like corals, use a bone cutter of garden shears or something similar. you want to avoid burnig the flesh if possible.

sounds like it is a Montipora Digitata
and yes, you can use a dremel, or bone cutters to
frag it...
those are one of the easiest to
frag , and are one of the hardiest stony coral..
good pick..

oh, by the way, if you use a Dremel, which i have used many times with great success on my Montipora Digitatas.
you are going to notice this eerie smell, it will remind you of being in the dentists chair..

frag for trade.. how ever i dont know if i want to loose any of him.

they are really fast growers, after a week you wont even notice the cut spot, and with in a few months it will have mostly regrown.
i would suggest you let it adjust to your tank and stuff before fragging it though

Think of fragging as insurance. If something were to happen in your tank, you got your buddy over there that you gave
frags to 6 months ago that are ready to be fragged again.
I've had a good running streak so far, but you just never know. Even the experts have problems. With this hobby, there are just too many things that can go wrong.
This is one of the reasons I hand out
frags like candy.
