zip-ties for hosting?
I thought I read somewhere, and I think it was Rob who was saying that you can use zip-ties in place of anenomes. Is this true, and how do you contruct them?

yep, you can.. simply take a small handful, and with all the "lock" parts at the bottom put another sip tie around the bottom.
then just fold them apart.
you want to try and use ones with softer plastic. you can also look at fake anemones, or even small clay pots or large
PVC tubes

Where do they sell the fake anenomes? I like the zip-tie idea. In the aquarium does it matter where you place it, because I would love to put it in the front of my 29 gal so I can watch them interact with it.

you can get fake plastic anemones as many
LFS 's
as for placement, put it where ever you want..
you can also try strips of plastic or soft zip ties attached to a 1"
pvc pipe piece, just to give it a larger size..

For what it's worth, I've also used the zip tie construction to make fake urchins when I bred banggai cardinals.
Zip ties are second to Duct Tape on the greatest inventions list (IMHO)

LOL !!! you're probably right. Do you have the
pvc piping facing up like you do when you place rocks on
pvc in your aquarium?

just watch for sharp edges if you nip the tie ends off. Clowns are pretty active & restless at times

Has anyone actually added a "Zip-Tie" anemones to a tank? Are the Clown Fish hosting? Anyone have a picture to post?

Are there any other good resilient natural corals clowns like?
At the moment one of my clowns is hosting in my Green Goniopra, but the coral doesn't like it too much and at night the clown seems lost when the coral goes in.

They often host the various euphyllia corals, mushrooms and even xenia.

Is it a lot harder to get clownfish to host a fake, plastic anemone, as opposed to a real anemone?
