my orange skunk is getting sick.. its surrounded wt some patches of white mucous.. my water is fine. i acclimated every fish in my tank. and all of them are doing fine. only when it comes to clown, after 4 or 5 days then the white mucuous starts. how come all the other fish stay healthy and only clowns get sick? im sad. maybe im not meant to be friends wt clowns.. iono
when u say sourrounded? how>?
u have a camera handy, post a pic for reference if u can.
do u have a reef setting or FO?
also the ability to quarentine the fish?
melafix might work, but lets see what it is before jumping the gun!
Also, do you have an anemone in there? It could be getting stung. Not all clowns host with all anemone. It may take some time for the symbiotic relationship to happen. They do need to build up a tolerance for each other.
I've found that in time, clowns will host with ANYTHING. I've had them host in any and every coral in my systems. My false percs even hosted on powerheads. I suggest getting another coral that is less likely to cause problems for the clown. Some of my previous clowns' favorites:
Xenia - darned weeds
Frogspawn - still a strong sting, but my clowns adapted
Hammer - "ditto"
Alveopora - not for new systems or beginner reefers
