i have to true percula clownfish... and in the past few days they have been hosting a rock near the bottom of the tank. i noticed today that the larger one,female im guessing, was stirring up the substrate with her tail... i was just wondering if this is normal behavior..maybe signs of spawning??
well thats cool... except that i just had to redo the rock work cus i got base rock today!! haha o well hopefully they will still "find their spot" thanks for the reply
its not specifically a sign of spawning.. a pre-cursor maybe
this is more of a nesting type behavior, a sign that they have found there spot..
it is a good sign and a step close to them possible spawning
normal behavior, however....... that trait is also seen with an individual clown and also with dominate damsels ( a close relative of clowns). i think it is more the instinct to build a foxhole than mating behavior. most mating behavior seem to ensure that future eggs will not have a possibility of being buried. just my 1.5 cents worth of observation.
