THIS TANK WAS TAKEN DOWN>>>> MAKE WAY FOR A NEW BIGGER TANK. OLD SYSTEM ADD ON
If you could fit more in the DT without overcrowding it than I would go ahead and do it, more live rock is always good for a tank. Congrats on the rock by the way.
I Managed to get abought 60lbs of live rock from a local reefers tank, i added it to my qt tank for now, i was thinking i was going to put abought 20lbs in this tank and 40lbs in my DT refugium. Sould i consider putting more in this tank or is 20lbs ok (giving me a total of 35lbs in this tank)
yeah, they require a pretty stable tank among other things. looking good so far bud, remind me of the sbs channel, real snowy..lol
lol, i passed on the nudibrachs....
Hey Rocky, I found some info about the Berghia Nudibranche here is a link: Berghia Nudibranches, Acclimating Your Aiptasia SWAT Team! Avoiding Berghia Predators. Your tank is looking good. I would try lowering your temp a bit to about 72 to 78, 86 is a bit high.
Does Anyone Wanna Ask or comment on anything? Any suggestions?
Now that the "dust storm" has settled my tank looks bare, Lol! Im also going to start testing the water....So my entries will have a "tank water parameters" section. For now I'll focus on the basics: Salinity(S.G.) = 1.024 Temp =86F/32C Ph = 8.0-8.2 Am = 0 Nitrite = 0 So ill stop because my Ammonia has not started to climb,So lets get it started! (Im gonna do the shrimp method) I'll keep you guys posted~
Hey Everyone! Does Anyone know where I can read a good article on Berghia Nudibranch? Tank conditions and such? THANKS (Tank Up-date Tonight)
Hey, Ok nice I like the X pattern!! Right now im just gonna get the dust to settle........ I havent planned on any certian corals yet because i Dont wanna get anything right away...I need to make sure I have proper lighting (im looking into that now) and give time for the tank to cycle. My tank is 18 Deep.
The two pumps are on the same side near the top pointing dicetly across the water to the other side, Im trying to make a strong under current. I think for your corals is would be better to put them in each corner in the back facing diagonally across the tank (an X pattern) so it gives it different patterns in current. I don't think 1700 GPH are that bad but it depends on which corals you get and how they like it. What corals are you planning on getting? Because with the lights you have you will only be able to get soft corals and even then those lights might not be enough. How deep is your tank?
SO my flow plan is to have both pumps like this side by side (you can only see 1) they have the stream style conecters on the front , IS 1700 GPH to much?, I have them on at the same time in 15min intervals. So is My flow to strong or weak, i estimate the tank is pushing 850gph since both pumps are on only for half the time per hour. The length of my tank is 30 Inch. So The path of flow is top left (pumps start) then right along the top of the tank, delflected down by the right side glass then down to the substrate, which deflectes the wather flow left (undercurrent) along the substrate, then back up along the left tank wall to the pumps (pumps end) So basicly a clock-wise rectange......ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR COMMENTS ON THIS FLOW PATTERN?
OK well, i went out n got 2x korila 3 so thats 850gph each, So far im pushing 1700 gph in my 28gal tank, so i figure thats enough flow,LOL, the only other thing for flow i plan on adding is a skimmer, im not going to do an overflow or sump on this tank right now. The two pumps are on the same side near the top pointing dicetly across the water to the other side, Im trying to make a strong under current. I also went and got some carrbian live sand aprox 20lbs and like 15lbs of live rock, So thats all set up and running, just waiting for the "dust to settle" which might take a while im guessing, IM planning on having "softies" and some hard corals MUCH MUCH LATER!!
POSTED BY: rayme07 What type of corals are you planning on getting, sps, lps, soft, or zoes. Do you plan on having a mixed reef, sps dominant or something else. It sounds like your off to a good start. For flow I would think about getting one korila 1's for more flow. How much flow do you have now? To post pictures you can use photo bucket and post the IMG code. Remember though there is only a 10 picture limit.
