if i am understanding how this works....high alkaline & calcium readings are mutaully exclusive....so, if i have alkalinity that is is in the high range and calcium readings that are off the charts, then, something is probably wrong w/ one of the tests....correct?

not always.
you can have both too high, or both too low, but usually what happens is that a rise in one will cause a reduction in the other.

after a bit of research, i think it may the oceanic salt i am using....

so.....since my ammonia is down 0, trites are 0-.25 and the trates are at 10, i am gunna do a water change w/ IO and see if that doesn't help

I discussed this in a previous post. Ca and Alkalinity can be adjusted separately and the balance between them can be disturbed, or corrected by using "unbalanced aditives". Refer to my previous post.
