Reef-Keeper

its confusing me because it has a pick base and green tips. And I have a false per. that wants nothing to do with it.

Mine live in a RBTA, I don't have a LTA. I'm not so sure it's a LTA. Sebae maybe?

thanks for the help. Now I just need the right clowns. I have a false perc.

it could take the clowns years to host in it, buying more clowns wont matter. i would just give them time and see what happens.

what you can do is spot feed the anemone while you feed the clowns that way they are near it and touch it to get food that usually works, but not every clown hosts
mine will host ha lol

I just heard that capive bread clowns won't host an anemone. Is this true?

No, but wild caught are much easier to get to host.

I have a large LTA that looks just like yours and my clowns love it. Soon as I added the LTA the clowns went and swam around it all day like they were talking to it...in no time they were all buried up in it.
Its so big now I have to really look to find my clownfish when they are in it.

BTW, I have Clarkii clownfish.

Clarkii clowns are not my favorite but these guys are a joy to watch with that LTA.

Man were you right. Went out last night and bought a clarkii. in 10 minutes it was all over the anemone.

Hey thats great! I'm glad you got one!

I have heard that these clowns are a bit aggressive but mine are so busy with that LTA they dont start trouble.:)

I have had a opposite experience. My clarki when I first got it was awesome he was small love the anemone and wasn't even aggressive at all then four months down the road he grew big and turned into a terror he attacked anything in the tank that got close to his anemeone big, small it didn't matter then he constantly went for my two percula clowns even if they weren't near his anemone I finally had to take the percs out of the tank and he settled down a bit. Then anytime I stuck my hand in the tank he attacked it and one time even drew blood. If you have any other clowns in the tank when he gets older I would take them out. I am not in any way trying to scare you away from this fish. Clarkis are awesome fish and are fun to watch, feed, play in, and take care of their anemone. I would highly suggest one to anyone but would advise them that they are definitely not docile. :)

Wow...I hope mine dont turn out like that! Now, I have a maroon clown on the other side of the tank with another anemone and he chases me (only me) anytime I am cleaning that area of the tank.
He always seems to catch me off guard and bites me when I least expect it and it always scares the heck out of me!:yikes:
He never draws blood he just scares me.

Whats the best way to feed the LTA? It finally opened all the way today but wouldn't take anything i put in its tentacles or near its mouth?

I give mine a small piece of shrimp sometimes but normally my clowns take food to it.

I dont know what the best way to feed it is but I just place a piece off shrimp on it and it takes it....yours might not be hungry yet?

I feed my anemone scallops, raw table shrimp, brine and mysis shrimp mixed together, small chunk of silver sides and whatever I feed the tank that flows into its tenticles. All fed twice a week or small amounts each day. :)

I just squirt some of the food soaked in vitamins at mine.
