A fellow reefer gave me a frag of orange digitata. I though I had gel super glue at home but I can't find it. Can I use regular super glue? Or can I attach it to the piece of coral rubble I have with rubber bands? Thanks.

regular super glue just doen't have enough consistency for me, especially on rubble. don't use rubberband, it'll cause irritation and tissue die-off. put it in a cup until you get the gel.

Like just a cup of water sitting by itself or in a cup in the tank? Will it be OK until tomorrow or should I run to Wally World?

cup inside the tank. your are just preventing it from flopping around

It will be fine until tomorrow. I have used regular super glue before but, gel is easier.

OK. I will do that. Wally world = Wal mart.

not the biggest fan of walmart. i kept thinking wally world like amusement park in eddie murphy's beverly hills cop.

I agree but it is the only place around here that would have it and is open now.

I actually ran to the grocery store that is about 5 miles away and they just had regular. Wal mart is like 15 miles away. So I can just pick up some tomorrow after church.

make sure you dry the rubble and frag, water will activate the gel and cause it to harden quickly without sticking.

like dry it (the frag) with a towel or something?

pat the bottom of the frag with a towel. the rubble i woud dry ahead of time.

OK. I will pull the piece of rubble out tonight and let it dry. Then tomorrow when I get the glue it will be nice and dry.

Paper towels work fine for pat drying.

CarmieJo, I would love to see a photograph of your new coral when your all set with the glue situation and have it positioned within your tank. I'm sure everyone else would as well. :-)

My first SPS, Orange Digitata. It doesn't look like much now but I have great plans. :)

I think it's on one of her old rocks from her previous FOWLR tank....

I glued it to a piece of old coral skeleton the was about the same length. Then I kind of wedged that onto a whole head. It is up high until I figure out exactly what to do with it.

Yeah, I still don't have the green algaes all the way under control. But the diatoms are all gone. :D
