Hello Fellow Nano Reefers !

Well I'm in the process of setting up a 450 gal display (see member tank journal). In the meantime I've had a red sea max for about a year. It has about a 3" aragonite sand bed, 25 lbs of live rock sitting on top of a 1/2" pvc frame I made.

The tank is stocked w/ mostly softies, a few lps, & 2 rbta's. I have a pair of ocellaris clowns, a bangaii cardinal fish, a cleaner shrimp, and some turbo & nassarius snails for clean up.

I did upgrade the stock skimmer to a tunze 9002 (which totally kicks butt). I purchased a modded collection cup & media rack by Steve T. I also put a vortech pump w/ battery backup in there to give some additional flow.

Let me know what you guys think. :)

I took the picture with my iphone...my apologies if it's not that clear.

This is how it looked when I first set it up. I lost the male bangaii do to a parasite disease and the rbta has split.

Ray,

I did get into zoa's for a while there...armor of god, tub's blue, purple death, nuclear greens, etc. It can get out of hand. There are so many morph's and not to mention how zoa's look different under different lights.

I might have a friend etch some type of fish design on the tank ! :)

I know zoe's are so confusing to ID. That would be awesome put a design on a tank what are you planning as your design.

Lance,

Thanks for the kind words.

I had to down size from a 75 gal and I traded a vortech pump for the RSM...not too bad of a deal huh ? Regarding the mods...any RSM owner will tell you the skimmer bites. The tunze fits great and with the modded collection cup I didn't have to any cutting in the hood. The media rack allows me to put carbon, gfo, etc.

Hi CarmieJo,

I'm going to have to prune those 2 leathers soon before they get too big.

Yeah I have had a lot of experience with the Red Sea Max terrible skimmer. tunze skimmer can't be beat does a nice job. the media rack is a nice idea for a upgrade in the tank.
