I have a 10 gallon set up and tried the smallest maxi-jet I could find (120 GPH) and my tank turned into a whirlpool. Any suggestions on a powerhead or circulator for something this small. I was looking at the Koralia Nano but it has 240 GPH. Or is there something with an adjustable flow rate. The maxi-jet seemed to have a tightly focused stream and the Koralia seems to look more open(if that makes any sense) would the design play as a factor for compatibility to a nano. Any thoughts?

The Koralia pumps wider design is less likely to create a whirlpool. It is kind of like using the wide pattern on a garden hose nozzle compared to the jet pattern. I also aim my powerheads at a wall or rock so the stream is deflected instead traveling straight across the tank. I feel this provides more erratic flow.

The Koralia Nano would be perfect in a 10G. I used one in my biocube and it was perfect!

I had a nano in my 12 and was sorely disappointed. i should have gone with a 1.

I have a Koralia nano in my BioCube 14. Seems to work fine...

looks like either a koralia nano or a 1 will do the job for you.

think about the ocean, the water there can mover up to 1meter per second (read that in some aquarium magazine) on shallow reefs. You will not get that much flow in your tank. My suggestion is add another power head on the other side of the tank, so they are pointing at one another or disrupting each others flow. The more flow the better as long as you are not blowing the flesh off the corals

I am a sps person and I would love to set up a 10g BB sps reef with two Korella 4s just to see how well the corals could handle the extreme flow

If i could find a cheap drilled 10g I would probably try it tomorrow :)

Thanks for the input guys. I ordered the nano for now. If it seems to weak then I'll ad another one to the other side.

Well I got the nano and gotta say I wasn't impressed. The LFS ordered it for me and said I could return it if I was unhappy. was considering getting a second one but for an extra 14 dollars I could get the 1. I got that one and it's perfect. The LFS actually saved me a few bucks by not selling me the other nano. maybe he realizes I given him enough money to finnaly help me out. Thanks to all for your advise.
