Hi,

I started listening to the talking reef pod casts this week. Rob, you do an excellent job with the poscasts, and they make my 40 minute commute to work alot more enjoyable.

I have a 95 galllon corner tank with lots of Acropora/Montipora, Zoanthids, and a few acans on the bottom. My flow is from a Mag 9.5 return pump, and 6 Maxijet 1200s on a wavemaker.

I am looking to replace a Maxi with a Seio for some more flow, and I am not sure if the 2600 Seio will add too much flow. Can the flow rate be turned down? It is only $5 more then the next size down, and I could use the 2600 in my next tank I plan on putting together next year.

I look forward to contributing to the forum in the future. ;)

the seios have a flow adjustment gate, but the 2600 is huge and you may not be able to keep your sand down. i would try two 820s. maxijet 1200 is is 295gph. the seio 820 runs almost 900gph with no all attachments removed.

i agree totally, would probably be better to replace them with 2x SEIO 820 or 1100 models

and yes, as mentioned they are adjustable.
just keep in mind they are not designed for wavemakers so your not supposed to run them off your wavemaker that you have

Thanks for the input. I just saw the dimensions of the 2600, and that thing is definitely too big! Going from 1100 to 2600 gph for another 10 bucks seemed like a good deal at the time, especially since I am planning a bigger tank in the future.

there is a new controller for Seios due out in about 6 weeks. it is not a wave maker, but will slowly give the pumps 30 to 100% power in slowly increasing and decreasing amounts. it will control 2 pumps.

Thanks for the information. I went with two 1100s to replace two of my maxijets.

FYI, I found this post on RC about Seio 1100s killing fish by sucking them into the intake. This thread describes a mod to prevent this.
