latez thanks...
it was our first shot, and this is open to anyone, so hopefully then only get better with time.. :) veriann 05-05-2006, 10:03 AM i havn;t had a chance to listen yet rob, but did u like the way it came off!
its an idea that u have been working on for some time now, bet your glad the balls rolling. what dirrection is it rolling next? yes, it is... (been in the works for a while)
overall, yes, for it being the first attempt i am very happy with it.
we ran into scheduling issues, but mostly got through them.
my biggest concern is getting the audio quality better, but that should come with time veriann 05-05-2006, 10:26 AM whats affected audio?
im asking blind here, but im guessing the round table disscussions where not physically at the same place. so its based on the headsets people own and the networks they communicate on correct?
u dont need to answer this rob, ive fired it up since im in front of the puter anyways, unless your handing out plane coupons its answered itself veriann 05-05-2006, 10:39 AM good work guys. its going to be a welcome addition to the content on this site!
we're punching the envelope of originality here. i am in shock that RB accent isn't as thick as i pressumed..lol whats affected audio?

yes, its a combo of all that.
one person was on a cell phone, 2 were one computers with headset mics, and one was using headphone sand a built-in computer mic. so balancing audio was tricky because all the people on the call are 1 audio source.
first step will be more strict with what the other people use, IE, good Mics, and connections and stuff Reefbaby 05-05-2006, 04:00 PM Hey Veriann - what kind of thick accent am I supposed to have? :-) You probably presumed that I'm Swedish....I'm actually originally from Colorado, but live in Sweden now! And we Coloradoans don't have accents! :-) veriann 05-05-2006, 06:25 PM yup, that would explain it. those assumptions, sheesh vanmo92 05-05-2006, 08:53 PM nope. coloradins dont have much accents. (note my location)
Kool episode the real servo 05-06-2006, 01:07 AM Good show on a first attempt to connect multiple people via cyberspace and modern technology!
Nice way to give information without feeling you need to write another term paper LOL. vanmo92 05-06-2006, 02:44 PM I always just drop in dry fish food. Never had any problems but then a gain i dont have any corals. Good show on a first attempt to connect multiple people via cyberspace and modern technology!

thanks.. hopefully they get better as we go.
and yes, i have found that this medium can give people the chance to release info with spending weeks writing and proofreading articles that people will have to sit in front of a computer for a while to read.
BTW, got your PM, will be in touch soon. Reefbaby 05-07-2006, 09:05 AM Welcome Vanmo92!! Where abouts in Colorado are you from? christensonjes 05-07-2006, 03:51 PM Great job everybody! I like hearing other peoples opinions. I think it was good having gwen drop in questions every once in a while. As I listen to podcasts I always think of questions as your talking and gwen ask some that I was actually thinking of at the time. gwen_o_lyn 05-08-2006, 12:33 AM aww thanks ;) aww thanks ;)
see, i told you they loved you.. :D gwen_o_lyn 05-08-2006, 02:27 AM He is just being what they call in those parts "Minnesota Nice" ;) christensonjes 05-08-2006, 05:49 PM Its Minnesoooooota! lol ckumlien 05-09-2006, 10:26 AM I really enjoy these and all of the podcasts but actually we should say webcast? It reminds me of the sign I saw at the state park "no roller blading". I put my inline skates on and went for it! I went so fast my eyes watered so I got a tissue (or was it a klenex) out to wipe the water away.
Seriously, the shows are great. I can relax and listen! As the show goes on and people learn from the topics, I hope the topics get revisited with more complex involved discussion. Some of the topics lacking in depth but that is because the new hobbiests are included. Is this show just for new hobbiests? thanks for the feedback and the comments.
i do plan on revisiting some topics with more detail, so please, if there is something you are interested in just post the details to the feedback forum as that i where i try to track everything raermo 05-09-2006, 09:22 PM I loved the round table format. I really like hearing what other people are doing it gives me so ideas for things to try. I would like to hear about what additives everyone adds to tanks, what weekly and monthly maintence they do, and set-ups what everyone runs on their tanks. I agree with christensonjes tha it was nice to have Gwen actively listening to ask those questions. Anyway keep up the good work - Rachel Scott 05-09-2006, 09:44 PM Great episode everyone!
Rob, I know exactly what you mean about how cool the 6-line wrasse looks. And mine is spunky too. After first putting it in my tank, my neon dottyback gave it a trashing for a few days. But now, the 6-line will sometimes go over to my dottyback and bully it around! The dottyback will still take a run at him once in a while, but most of the time the 6-line just turns and "enough is enough" and the dottyback rolls on its side and leaves it alone.
As for feeding, I feed flake food, and I let go of the flakes once I have it under water. I do turn off my return pump and typically my skimmer so they have more time to grab it before it hits the sump/fuge. vanmo92 05-10-2006, 12:11 AM Welcome Vanmo92!! Where abouts in Colorado are you from?
Summit county CarmieJo 05-10-2006, 12:16 AM Hi ckumlien,
Welcome to TR! Reefbaby 05-10-2006, 07:26 AM Summit county oh hooo...one of the lucky ones! :-) Actually I'm pretty lucky too...from Boulder! :-) rroselavy 05-14-2006, 03:07 AM I thought the round table format was great addition to the regular TR podcasts. Information is presented in a more conversational/topical format, which was friendly to my newbie ears. It also adds even more life/character to the various TR Forum personalities, which only can make a sense of community stronger.
Keep it up. Perhaps I'll have something to contribute after I am no longer just a wee fry.
-Scott rroselavy 05-14-2006, 03:45 AM Rob seemed concerned about the gel binder that was in Ocean Nutrition Formula 1 frozen food. I know that Ocean Nutrition's Prime Reef is available in both Gel and Gel-free verions, and from what I remember while at the LSF, the Formula One (and Two) were available that way as well. not that it a life or death thing. i just recommend trying to clean the stuff up first.
i get concerned because my original P04 issues were caused by a a food source that contained P04. it was in the form of a gel binder, but was in the flake food i used which was TetraMarine
this becomes less of a big deal in larger tanks, or when you dont feed it often. vanmo92 05-23-2006, 07:59 PM oh hooo...one of the lucky ones! :-) Actually I'm pretty lucky too...from Boulder! :-)
Yeah i guess i'm lucky but not lucky if you are in the fish hobby. The nearest store that had fish/supplies is down in boulder and lakewood. I like to shop at exotic aquatic in boulder. thats where i get most of my stuff. Reefbaby 05-25-2006, 05:44 AM Cool - I leave in three weeks to visit my folks for the summer, I'll have to check out exotic aquatic....never been there. vanmo92 05-25-2006, 08:55 PM kool. I hope you have a nice time out here in colorado. |
