Well I think i just ruined my camera last night. I sorta got a little too close to the water lol. Now there is water inside the lense that i can't get out. Any way to get it out? I figured it will eventually evaporate but with it being salt water there is more than likely going to be salt in it. So i was thinking about upgrading and getting a new camera. Right now i got the Cannon Powershot S3 IS. I like this camera alot. i likle how the LCD screen moves so i can see what im taking a picture of when the camera is above my head or pointed down in a tank. It also takes normal AA batteries A big pluse. Any suggestions on a good all around camera that will also take great pictures of coral??

sorry but your lens is now worthless

Get a cannon g series, like yours but practically professional level. It is the best point and shoot on the market!

Is there a way you can take off the lens and get a new one. But most lenses are just as expensive as getting a new camera. Its always an idea though. :)

For macro shots, I love the Canon 100mm macro lens. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it for me.

get a 50mm and buy a set of extension tubes...cheap and great for macro shots. Sigma also make a great 105mm macro, thats what i use.

50mm would be okay, but I prefer to get much closer with my macro shots. I like to get in really close and get detailed polyp and fish shots.

They told me that lense could focus from as close as 9" or something. IM not sure. I don't know squat about them lol.

LOL, I'm such a lurker...I've been around for awhile, silently stalking. :)

That lens can probably focus at 9", I'd have to look it up. I know the 100mm is like 15". But that extra 50mm gets you in really close zoom-wise into the details. You'd do great with a 50mm lens, and then if you wanted to get in closer, add those extension tubes and try it with those too.
