I have taken the following photos of my tank, I apologize for how big they are, but I wanted the subject to be able to be seen. I think I may have a few bad guys starting in the tank. Do you agree?

Is this Hair Algae?

Please tell me this isn't bubble algae, because it is in a bunch of spots!

Yup, that looks like hair algae to me....and the last pic does look like bubble algae.
When you try to get rid of the bubble algae, the best is to remove the rock. If the bubbles break in the tank, they release spores and will spread.
For the hair algae, you can remove the rock and scrub the areas with a toothbrush. That's what I did yesterday with all my rock.

Here's a link to a pic I took when I had a bad outbreak of bubble algae. It's a close-up, but only a small section of the actual rock.

Well, It looks like I have my work cut out for me. The rocks have algae all over them, but I guess better now during the cycle then after livestock is in.
yep, i agree with scott
the first one does look like hair algae, and the last one is bubble algae.
now i did see another macro algae in one of those images but i wouldn't worry about saving it.. i would just work on ridding yourself of the stuff thats in there.
again, dont fret, i am convinced that there is a HA phase on most new tanks. just be diligent in your care and it will go away.. :)

I take it those are reef safe. Do they knock anything over? is there a min tank size?

there are scattered reports of them being bad, but for the most part people (including myself) have good luck with them

Thanks, I'll keep them in mind if my bubble algae gets out of hand. I still have some bubbles here and there.
Would be nice if they would also go around and snip HA off at its base! :D

are you sure it's bubble algae? The bubbles look so see-through....are they green or white/see-through?
Do you have a clean-up crew yet??
