I am starting a rotifer culture with a salinity of 1.019 the same as my photoplankton, when I add the rotifer to my display tank the salinity is 1.025, will the rotifer go onto any shock or do I need to acclimate the rotifer prior to adding to my display tank.

I'm not sure about this, but the rotifer is being used as a food source right? If so I don't see any need to acclimate.

I've bought live rotifers and copepods from two different sources. Both mentioned acclimating them was unnecessary. Not sure why but I've never acclimated them.

From what I understand Amphibious, it takes a difference of more that .007 for the roti's to go in to osmic shock. I also keep my roti's @ 1.019 and my tank is @ 1.0255. What I have learned is once my roti's got established (a few weeks) they started consuming a tremendous amount of phyto. Make sure you add enough phyto to tint the culture water green. I have to add phyto twice a day.

I'll verify the 007 it's been written in a few studies and I've had no problem on the .019 front. I tend to run a myriad of salinity ranges on my test tanks so my cultures typically stick at the 1.022 mark for both phyto and zooplankton. Had pretty good luck in that range for most anything I've cultured so I figure why mess with what works.
