Hi all,

I have a brix refractometer. I'm using it to measure the salinity in my tank water.
I'm really not sure how to read it. When i test my water it gives a reading of 5.
what's that mean and what's that equal to I'm used to using a hydrometer and having trouble understanding the refractometer reading.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had never heard of a Brix refractometer, but after looking around, it looks like they're primarily used to measure sucrose in solution instead of salt.

That would explain it. I got it a garage sale for 1 dollar so did'nt loose much there.
Thanks for the quick response you guys are great.
