Carmie Scott 04-19-2006, 11:40 AM I would suspect it is. Unless Rob's displays the in and out on two different displays, where this one is one display and a switch you move to check the in/out.
Nice find...I may have to get me one of these. I have a handheld TDS meter right now. yep, that's the exact one i have, from a different company, but same thing.. :) JustDavidP 04-19-2006, 01:40 PM Wow...sweet price too!
Mine is a handheld :( But at least I own one. I know many who do not. I bring my hand held to their homes, check their RO water and they are shocked!!
D i found that when my inline unit reads 0, the handheld one will read 1-3.
maybe its already leaching from the container, or maybe one of the units is not as accurate..
all in all, i have both, and they both work.. :) JustDavidP 04-19-2006, 01:59 PM Container leaching is the most likely reason. Container leaching is the most likely reason.
thats my assumption also gwen_o_lyn 04-19-2006, 07:47 PM I just ordered one of those along with my filters! I can't wait to test my water before and after changing them out :) Scott 04-20-2006, 01:48 PM we can't wait to see either! will be good for people to see / know WHY we need to change our filters on a regular basis. gwen_o_lyn 05-01-2006, 12:28 PM we can't wait to see either! will be good for people to see / know WHY we need to change our filters on a regular basis.
TDS before I changed filters 0
TDS afterwards 0
I really didn't need new filters, but I changed them out anyway. CarmieJo 05-01-2006, 01:34 PM TDS before I changed filters 0

So much for being an object lesson! fat walrus 05-01-2006, 07:36 PM i don't think these tds meters are that reliable. that's the same one that comes with KENT units. my first one read 0 before ro and 0 after ro. tried it in tap water and it read 0. got a new one from KENT. it worked for about 2 weeks, and then the screen died. third one, the switch broke. gave up and now just change cartridges and membrane by keeping track of gallon usage. No kidding! Guess we can't use Gwen as an example for this "test". :( gwen_o_lyn 05-01-2006, 09:43 PM he he sorry to disappoint... my tap water reads around 38-42ppm if that helps any :) Scott 05-01-2006, 09:58 PM he he sorry to disappoint... my tap water reads around 38-42ppm if that helps any :)
well...I guess that'll have to do.
At least we know it's doing something. :) gwen_o_lyn 05-01-2006, 10:15 PM yeah it works- at first I thought it may not work- so I reversed the hookup just to be sure and it does Scott 05-01-2006, 10:20 PM yeah it works- at first I thought it may not work- so I reversed the hookup just to be sure and it does
LOL....when I said "At least we know it's doing something." I actually meant the new RO filters. gwen_o_lyn 05-01-2006, 10:25 PM ah ok, yes the old ones and the new ones do work! wildeone 08-07-2006, 10:57 PM Ok, I got my New TDS meter and I realized that I don't know what is a good TDS. Is it correct to assume that a TDS of 0 is expected on the output side of RO? JeffDubya 08-08-2006, 01:13 PM For RO/DI, yes. For RO, probably 5-10 is acceptable.
I still need to set up my spreadsheet to track this, something I have not done yet. Drat! wildeone 08-08-2006, 07:21 PM Ok, well I have only RO so my reading of 6 is OK. I thought I read that DI was not critical in reef tanks...is that true? |
