I would suspect it is. Unless Rob's displays the in and out on two different displays, where this one is one display and a switch you move to check the in/out.

Nice find...I may have to get me one of these. I have a handheld TDS meter right now.

Wow...sweet price too!

Mine is a handheld :( But at least I own one. I know many who do not. I bring my hand held to their homes, check their RO water and they are shocked!!

i found that when my inline unit reads 0, the handheld one will read 1-3.
maybe its already leaching from the container, or maybe one of the units is not as accurate..

all in all, i have both, and they both work.. :)

Container leaching is the most likely reason.

I just ordered one of those along with my filters! I can't wait to test my water before and after changing them out :)

we can't wait to see either! will be good for people to see / know WHY we need to change our filters on a regular basis.

TDS before I changed filters 0
TDS afterwards 0

I really didn't need new filters, but I changed them out anyway.

So much for being an object lesson!

i don't think these tds meters are that reliable. that's the same one that comes with KENT units. my first one read 0 before ro and 0 after ro. tried it in tap water and it read 0. got a new one from KENT. it worked for about 2 weeks, and then the screen died. third one, the switch broke. gave up and now just change cartridges and membrane by keeping track of gallon usage.

No kidding! Guess we can't use Gwen as an example for this "test". :(

At least we know it's doing something. :)

yeah it works- at first I thought it may not work- so I reversed the hookup just to be sure and it does

LOL....when I said "At least we know it's doing something." I actually meant the new RO filters.

Ok, I got my New TDS meter and I realized that I don't know what is a good TDS. Is it correct to assume that a TDS of 0 is expected on the output side of RO?

For RO/DI, yes. For RO, probably 5-10 is acceptable.

I still need to set up my spreadsheet to track this, something I have not done yet. Drat!

Ok, well I have only RO so my reading of 6 is OK. I thought I read that DI was not critical in reef tanks...is that true?
