What kind of algae can I keep in a DT with 250w MH lamp...

My cheato is either being eaten or the light is too intense...

PSEYE,

Have you listened to the podcast on macro algae? Its probably informational for you especially if you want to keep some in your display:

Maybe a Red Gracilaria? Red Grape? I think caulurpa might be a little too much in the dispay as I've heard about people battling with excessive growth. Check out this link:

Calcareous algae like halimeda would do well.

Brian, have you ordered from Reef Cleaners?

Carmie,

I haven't ordered from them and stumbled accross them yesterday. I like that they have good prices and QUITE a selection of macro algaes. I may think of adding a few to my tank besides the ol' boring chaeto ball ;)

Thanks Brian, I am thinking about getting some macro from them too.

Let me know if you do! I think its awesome that they just focussed on macro and clean up crews, keep it simple and do it the best. They also have a custom CUC questionairre you can fill out that looked pretty cool! Definitely a lot smarter than those "packaged" CUC deals. I always look at those and say, "I don't really want that" or "I'd rather have more of this or that"

The macros looked pretty dang cool. I might add some of the calcerous type or the red "angel food" kind to the DT. I want to go chaeto in the fuge, but some extra color and another lifeform in the DT will make it look more reefy too! Wonder if they'll be at Macna?

Wonder if they'll be at Macna? There were lots of other vendors but not Reef Cleaners.

I ordered from Reef Cleaners recently and was very pleased with their "stuff". I have some pictures and I'll try to get them up here. Some have my name credited on them.... and those who know me know I don't like to do that... but I'm preparing them for another project. Eventually they will be prepared without the name but there is a 1000 other projects in front of it :-)

Yes I know.... a lot of explaining for a name credit.... but I just HATE name credits on the pics... :-)

Note the size of their small ceriths and the nassarius. I'm not sure if they reach the "normal" size for ceriths and nass', I'll have to ask.

One of their algaes:

There's 2 other algaes in this shot:

K, this is kind of funny... it's not suppose to be red, but it's codium:
