I've been testing the water in my tanks the last few days and have noticed my KH/ALK and PH is pretty high. The KH has been between 13-15, PH 8.6 (highest level on Red Sea Test Kit), Calcium is between 380-420, Magnesium 1215. I am using Salifert for KH and Magnesium, AP for calcium and RedSea of PH.

I am currently using B-Ionic, but have not dosed in the last 4 days to see if KH will go down. So far is hasn't really dropped, but the calcium and magnesium has.

I was thinking of adding some magnesium to my tanks, but wasn't sure if it was better if I wait it out a little longer before proceeding.

I had a problem with my alk, and calcium being a little off and in my thread pyschojam recommended the following article which talks about mag, alk, calc, and Ph and how they are related and how to solve different issues that arise with the balance.

Randy Holmes-Farley article

Hope that gets you some help as I am still new to the hobby, sorry i could not be of more help.

Dave, alk and Ca are inversely proportionate so increasing Ca will help bring alk down and the pH will fall too. I would continue dosing the Ca part as long as it does not go above 450ish.

Thank you. I am currently adding just the calcium addititive so I am hoping the Alk/PH will come in the next few days.
