Well it has come down to it finally. I have to downgrade from my 100 gallon to a 30 nano. I simply cannot keep up with the cost. i need at least $1,000 more to get the 100 up to where i want it (more lights, more corals, more fish....) and for much less than that i can get a fully constructed nano.

sigh

I am going to get the Solana (http://www.current-usa.com/solana.html)tank. All i have in my big tank at the moment is two clowns and two cardinals, plus some amount of snails and hermits. These are nano fish anyhow, so....... sigh.

The 100 gallon will end up on craig's list along with my stand and skimmer. Siiiiighhhh.

It is not all bad i guess. Now i can put the nano up in the main room instead of a small closet like place.

well that stinks, man !! wish i could afford it.

anyway of just breaking it down and moving it out of the way for a while, and buy piece by piece until you get everything ?? i built my entire system over the last 3 years, piece by piece. i know they are large tanks to "tuck away", but i would hate to see you lose it, considering how stoked you were when you got it.

That does definately bite the big one. Sorry to hear that, but I guess that we each have to do what we feel is best. I am glad that you will still be able to continue in the hobby though. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope that you win the lottery so you can keep the big dog! It's a shame that you just can't keep status quo for awhile and see how things go.

Ok... Welcome to nano land. It will have alot of advantages. Less time for WC's. More time and money for other things. Its will stay alot cleaner than a larger tank. I think there are a lot of good things you can expect. Can't wait to see it!!!

Sorry Samuel, I know this must be a hard decision. But, you may be the first Solana evaluator on TR.

Sorry about that Samuel! That's too bad. Maybe one day you will have the room and money to upgrade again. Victoria is the perfect example, though, of a fantastic nano tank, which can be almost more incredible than a big tank!

You'll have more time again as well once the baby is a little older...rather not buckle yourself down too much now!
