View Full Version : I heard the most beautiful words come out of my girlfriend's mouth last weekend! keith p 04-21-2008, 12:23 PM Last weekend I was showing my girlfriend the new frog spawn I picked up a t a local fish club meet. She is more into predator fish and such. Very little appreciation for colas (because the don't have "personality").
Out of no where she says to me "Keith, I think your tank is looking a little crowded. You're going to need a bigger one soon."
:o
It was like the clouds parted and a beam of light came down and blinded me. Birds were chirping and the quadrupeds were sleeping (can & dog). Was I in heaven? :love!: I love my girl. I hope every one gets to be so lucky
Now I just need to figure out how we will pay for a new tank  poppin_fresh 04-21-2008, 12:29 PM better hurry up and marry that one! :D wu398 04-21-2008, 12:45 PM Does she have a sister? lReef lKeeper 04-21-2008, 01:04 PM I wish we could be that lucky !! My wife says "your tank looks pretty crowded ... are you gonna stop buying now" ??
Of course a reply ... " uh, NOOO ... we just need a bigger tank"" !!
We never seem to be able to agree on anything hobby related. UNTIL she TAKES all of my frag sales money. Phurst 04-21-2008, 01:19 PM My wife says "your tank looks pretty crowded ... are you gonna stop buying now" ??
Hmm, that sounds familiar :rotfl: Seahorsedreams 04-21-2008, 02:22 PM But on the flip side. Both me and hubby are into it.... there's no one to say no.
"Boy that's a pretty...." "get it"
"The tanks needs a new......." "get it"
"We need to upgrade........." "get it"
But that's why I married him. keith p 04-21-2008, 02:31 PM Seahorsedreams, that could be a scary situation. Every relationship has to have checks and balances...
I have problems sometimes separating wants and needs. Seahorsedreams 04-21-2008, 02:36 PM *opens up wallet and moths fly out* lReef lKeeper 04-21-2008, 05:46 PM Seahorsedreams, that could be a scary situation. Every relationship has to have checks and balances...

you must not know Renee and Greg ... Renee & Greg = more money that GOD !!
why, yes i am a rocket scientist !!
BTW ... how is Greg ?? i have not seen him around in a pretty LOOOONG time. CarmieJo 04-22-2008, 12:25 AM My hubby is not into my tanks. But, I am pretty sure if I started lobbying I could have that bigger tank by next week. Now if I could only get him to stop complaining about the electric bill I'd go for the bigger tank. Oh, this is good! My wife and I have "checks and balances" I keep both check books in balance and she doesn't have a clue how much her balance is. I'm serious, not joking.
Separating "wants and needs"??? My wants are my needs!!! :tongue2: Can't separate them.
My wife tolerates all my vices because she thinks she's blessed to have me. It's true! Read my Sig line. Of course, I don't do the stupid things that ruin a marriage. She's my best friend and I'm hers.
Dick Phurst 04-22-2008, 12:17 PM Yep, my wife always says there are worse things I could be spending money on than a hobby. lReef lKeeper 04-22-2008, 06:01 PM Yep, my wife always says there are worse things I could be spending money on than a hobby.
we REALLY need to get our wives together !! may they could go shopping and we could go frag hunting !!
mine is NOT going to Macna :( Skurvey Dog 04-22-2008, 06:45 PM I am blessed also. My hubby doesn't care what I do as long as I "Do it well." He is very intollerant of half donkey stuff/projects. He just looks at me and shakes his head, laughs and says "Only You!" His motto is "Do it right the first time, don't cut corners or scrimp, it'll all come out in the wash and you'll be ahead of the game in the long run." He has some idea of finances involved, but never asks why or how much. The ONLY thing he has denied me is the other room in the house that is larger than my office. But hey! I'm still working on him. I really want a large RDSB and a place to set up some phyto cultures! He fussed for a while when I refused to set up my 90g in the den where he hangs out...... hmmmm.... maybe the perfect place for that future 125g.:tongue2: laurabolyard 04-22-2008, 07:22 PM checks and balances? I just check to mak sure I HAVE a balance  poppin_fresh 04-22-2008, 09:45 PM I feel pretty blessed right now (and I am not religious), even though my wife isn't all that into my tank, but she is the love of my life.
We have a friend living with us who is recently separated from a physically abusive relationship. After helping her through the last couple days, I cant imagine my wife and I arguing over such a trivial thing as money. As long as I'm sucking air and pumping blood, I'm happy. IAreef 04-22-2008, 10:01 PM I agree, a supportive significant other is one of the most crucial pieces to any reef tank, my wife for instance doesn't care about the tank at all past, the "o thats nice to look at" but she knows that I know the bills and family come first, then the tank, or her flowers depending of if shes in the room or not:up:
even though we bicker from time to time her motto is "as long as its enjoyable and not putting us in the poor house, go for it" CarmieJo 04-22-2008, 11:02 PM Did I mention that there are currently 3 tanks in the dining room? And no dining room table? Yep, my hubby is supportive! Skurvey Dog 04-23-2008, 07:13 AM Did I mention that there are currently 3 tanks in the dining room? And no dining room table? Now that's LOVE! :love!: lvreefclown 04-23-2008, 12:01 PM I am a newbie to the hobby, but I can tell my pocketbook is going to be in for quite a ride! My fiance is into computers (if anyone has heard WOW, or World of Warcraft, they understand my pain) so I thought it was about time for me to get into a hobby. Of course, he thinks my hobby is coming home from work and taking care of the house and kids. :wall:
I am glad I am in good company! CarmieJo 04-23-2008, 08:02 PM With him playing WoW you should have lots of time to work on your tank. :) veriann 04-25-2008, 12:39 AM *opens up wallet and moths fly out*
Correction..... traded moths as currency to a remote & native LFS.:sailing:
I had to laugh & duck evidentally some time ago, my misses came home one day saying i lied to her for all those years, after her telling me she ripped the owner of a LFS a new @ss%#$$^ on the fact the prices where absolutly insane, the owner politly explained to add a zero or two to my claimed purchase prices & you might come close. Needless to say that was the last time she went to purchase a supprise gift for me..lol CarmieJo 04-25-2008, 08:42 AM You know what they say, honesty IS the best policy. :) veriann 04-25-2008, 11:13 PM who ever said that carmie never got their @ss wipped for telling the truth in the first place, lie to keep your world safe i say! :raining:& if you cant lie, have a coughing fit instead...lol |
