View Full Version : walk to MACNA duke1231 04-17-2008, 08:15 AM If fuel prices go up anymore it's going to be to expensive to fly, I am going to have to walk to Atlanta. poppin_fresh 04-17-2008, 08:24 AM I gotta get off my but and book a room and flight at some point soon, Amphibious 04-17-2008, 09:08 AM Flight prices are still cheap compared to driving. I'd book ASAP. poppin_fresh 04-17-2008, 09:23 AM I found $333 non-stop from burlington to atlanta, then the hotel is another $275. Its going to be an expensive, but fun weekend. duke1231 04-17-2008, 09:32 PM Yea I better do the same. lReef lKeeper 04-17-2008, 10:17 PM i gotta find a room too. CarmieJo 04-17-2008, 10:30 PM Better start walking. From VT that would be about like hiking the Appalachian Trail! I've got my room bookek. I'm still deciding on flying or driving. Airfare is about $300 right now. It is only a 6 hr drive for me but my truck will take 50 gallons of gas to get there and back. So how much do we think gas will be in Sept? There there is parking at the hotel. On the MACNA website it says parking is discounted but the hotel can't tell me what the discount rate is. The normal rate is $19 a night. Flying is looking like a good deal! MARTA from the airport is only $2 and it is easier to fly with my scooter than to drive and deal with the hassle of unloading it. lReef lKeeper 04-17-2008, 11:00 PM if you decide to drive ... i will unload it for you. you will just have to cal me when get there. i am driving either way ... i LOVE my little truck !! 32MPG highway rocks.
who wants to share a room ?? duke1231 04-17-2008, 11:10 PM Well I am lucky becuase my brother is a captain with Air Tran so I get to fly for free. So hotel is my only cost. CarmieJo 04-18-2008, 12:02 AM My sis is working for American but won't have Buddy Passes until October. She is supposed to be trying to get me one for MACNA from a friend who works there but they have terrible schedules from Raleigh. As in driving is faster! Phurst 04-18-2008, 12:55 PM Bobby, my fam is not sure they are coming now. If they decide no, I'll share a room with ya. nay,kid 04-18-2008, 05:26 PM Hey bobby I thought I was sharing a room with you. lReef lKeeper 04-18-2008, 06:39 PM three is company guys !! i call the floor !!
you paid yet Matt ?? laurabolyard 04-18-2008, 07:29 PM does the room come with a tub and extra pillow? lReef lKeeper 04-18-2008, 08:24 PM does the room come with a tub and extra pillow?
lol, im sure it could be arranged ... if you dont mind rooming with a bunch of guys Talkingreef all night long !! poppin_fresh 04-18-2008, 11:08 PM Since my wife is totally uninterested, I'd be willing to split a room with some one as long as its two doubles! I would feel uncomfortable sharing a bed with a strange dude...check that...any dude, not necessarily just a strange one.
Seriously though, if any one is interested in saving some $$, heres my stats:
-I'm a non-smoker
-I'm quiet, a non-snorer,
-I'm considerate
-I'm hiegenic (as in don't smell)
- I like bowling
- My favorite Nascar driver is Mark Martin
That about covers it. CarmieJo 04-19-2008, 02:04 AM My hubby probably won't make it. There is a possibility that I have another roomie but I'll put my info out just in case.

Maybe a good learning opportunity, not to mention a great mini-vacation from the kids! lReef lKeeper 04-23-2008, 02:14 PM A lot of the speakers focus on new hobbyists. Check out MACNA XX Atlanta (http://www.macnaxx.com) to see everything going on. I would recommend it to ANY hobbyists, new or old. This is gonna be my 1st also, but I know a lot of people that also recommend it. Amphibious 04-23-2008, 02:39 PM Are these conferences recommended for newbies to the hobby?
