Getting ready to set up my 14g Biocube. Should I cut some short 1"or 1.25" wide PVC pieces for securing the bottom pieces of live rock? Should it be just above the sand substrate? Please advise.

I'm sure Dick (Amphibious) can give you some great specific advice, or you can check his build thread for details, but there are lots of really good advantages to slightly raising your rock on PVC. If I ever re-aquascape, that's the way I'll do it.

I would do it.. I did for my new tank and the flow is nice. If the rock is large, use larger PVC. If the rock is the same size as the PVC, that's kinda silly, use smaller PVC. Keep the PVC about 1/2 inch taller than the sand bed or so.

the only reason to do it is to have a dsb. If you are not going with a dsb dont bother

I'm getting ready to do this to. I just got all the stuff to do it 1/2 , 3/4 some light defuser and 2 packs of elbows. Some glue and I should have a piece of 1in around some were and should have zip ties around here. Well I better get looking for the stuff.
