Phurst 04-01-2008, 12:15 AM Thanks everybody!
Jon, I've been telling myself this is a one shot deal. If this one doesn't make it, I'm not even going to try another. Of course I'm lying to myself, but life can get boring if you don't delude yourself every once in a while ;)
Lori, Bobby is my "brother from a different mother", stands to reason we'd have close birthdays. It's funny though, we both keep turning 29 too :) CarmieJo 04-01-2008, 01:24 AM Twins are you? Phurst 04-01-2008, 09:15 AM Yep, identical ;) Skurvey Dog 04-01-2008, 07:33 PM Well, they always say great minds think alike. It's good to have access to a think tank. :D lReef lKeeper 04-01-2008, 08:12 PM my brother from another mother !! hows that new fish doing ?? Phurst 04-01-2008, 11:35 PM Still alive :)
He picked at some BBS, but ignored the bloodworms. He's out and active though, and not being harrassed by anyone in the tank. Phurst 04-02-2008, 10:00 AM CBB did not make it :( poppin_fresh 04-02-2008, 05:37 PM dang...I know that feeling.
I have adored the CBB since I got into this hobby, but I have yet to figure out how to keep one long term. I have enough aipstasia to keep one happy for a long time, but I'm afraid to kill another one. I may try a Raccoon, and see if I am more successful. I have read that Raccoons can be trained to eat aiptasia also.... we'll see. Phurst 04-02-2008, 05:41 PM Yeah, I was bummed :(
LFS has offered me a replacement, but I'm nervous about trying again... veriann 04-02-2008, 10:25 PM how to kill a fish in 12hrs - by Phursty Jack, catchy title, just not real pleasant to experience id say. Sorry to here it bud, possible causes? lReef lKeeper 04-03-2008, 08:33 AM i wish that i could pinpoint anything that i do to keep them alive for years for you. i know one thing NOT to do ... buy a pistol shrimp with unstable rocks that will pin the CBB between them when the slide a little. Phurst 04-03-2008, 08:57 AM LOL, sounds like you're spealing from experience there Bobby :)
I did a 3 hour drip acclimation, and he seemed OK and active once in the tank, buthe would not eat. I don't think that's quick enoug to starve, but I'm not sure if he was eating at the LFS. Yeah, I know, one of Dick's rules ;)
They've offered one replacement, and that's all I'm going to try. CarmieJo 04-03-2008, 09:05 AM Bummer, I'm sorry. poppin_fresh 04-03-2008, 05:55 PM I think most CBBs are WELL into starvation when they get to our tanks. I have read that a lot of wholesalers intentionally starve fish to keep them from "polluting" the shipping water. My theory is that this CBBs just dont tolerate this? Phurst 04-03-2008, 06:13 PM That may well be. I think they don't tollerate stress very well either. The owner of the LFS (who is a great guy) said he' let me kknow when they got one in he knew was eating for my replacement. Skurvey Dog 04-03-2008, 06:31 PM Sorry to hear that. |
