View Full Version : Vanmo92's 72 gallon tank thread (lots of pics). vanmo92 03-31-2008, 07:53 PM Well I figured that it is about time to start a tank thread over here. Some of you guys might remember the thread when I was first setting up my 72 gallon bowfront. Well that was over 1 1/2 years ago and I figured you might want to see some updated pictures. For those of you that dont know my tank is a 72 gallon bowfront with a 20 gallon rubbermaid bin as a sump. I have 110-125lbs of LR and about 100LBS of LS. THe tank was bought reef-ready. It has an ASM G-3 skimmer and a mag 9.5 return pump, and currently 2 MJ 1200's in the display for flow. Now, I am mostly in this hobby for the fish, but I also got 2 kenya tree frags from a local reefer, so Those are my only corals. My fish are 2 Ocelaris clowns, a yellow tang, a foxface, a 6-line wrasse, and a coral beauty angel.
These first pictures were taken before I cleaned the glass, but it is the only decent pics I got of these fish...

I have a large and ongoing problem with aiptasia:

My live rock did not come with aiptasia, I bought them a long time ago when I thought they were cool, they were originally in a 1 gallon pico tank I had set up, then when I tore that down I put my large "prized" aiptasia in this tank, I was so proud of it and I did not know how much they take over. I spot fed it daily and soon, you guessed it, they were everywhere, seemingly overnight. ohh well, noob mistake.
Here is a FTS:

Some of these are a few weeks old because I could not get any better ones right now (I will try harder). But this is as good as I could do right now:

Here are some pix of my kenya trees, sometimes the foxface nips them a bit, so they dont always look happy:

That is all the pictures I have for you right now, I will have more later. Any questions/comments will be much appreciated. vanmo92 04-15-2008, 03:15 PM Anyone have comments. mike_777 04-15-2008, 11:17 PM Looks good. Have you tried eradicating the aiptasia yet? Looks like the coralline loves your overflow box. CarmieJo 04-16-2008, 09:34 PM Hi Evan,
The tank is looking good. Are those mangroves? vanmo92 04-23-2008, 11:28 PM Sorry to be slow in responding, but have been in hawaii the last 2 weeks!
Yes those are mangroves. Yes I have tried eradicating aiptasia but it seems like when I try, they come back even stronger after it. vanmo92 04-30-2008, 01:26 PM Yesterday when I was at school my male clownfish jumped, and by the time I got home it was too late. :( :( :( :( :( :( CarmieJo 05-01-2008, 10:13 AM Sorry to hear about your clownfish. That stinks. vanmo92 05-02-2008, 10:31 PM It almost seems like it sucks more for the other clown, she seems rather depressed. veriann 05-02-2008, 11:11 PM the cost of living was to high, or a girl friend dumped him temporary & now wishes she did'n't:madmad: happens everytime! lol
Sorry bud, never nice to lose our little friends. |
