how come only people with Ipods can listen? dosn't seem your brodcast's ar compatable with standard mp3 players???? I feel left out.
the podcasts are not (that i know of) iPod specifc
they are standard MP3. you can play them on your computer through iTunes, Windows Media player or any type of software that plays MP3.
i know they are not specific to iPods. i had a local friend that was listening on her iRiver and that was working.
if there are others here that listen to the shows on devices other than an iPod pelase chime in..

strange part is I can listen too it on the puter, but get like zero playback on my Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra. Maybe it's just a setting somewhere. I also know it won't downoad some tunes to my thing if i don't have some sort of digital licsence stored on my HD somewhere.
here is a simple test.
any song that can "only" be played on an iPod, will "only" play back in iTunes.
if you can play the Podcast using anything other than iTunes, then it is likey not a problem with the MP3 file.
iPod formats are the AAC and protected AAC format. these fiels have an M4A and M4B extension. these files are not created using hte MP3 file.
the AAC file is owned by Apple, so the iPod and iTunes are the only things that can play them. i had thought about doign enhanced podcasts using all the extra features, but it would require me to use the AAC format, and i didnt think that would be fair to my non iPod/iTunes listeneres. so i never do it.

Ok when I open a podcast, my puter uses quicktime to play it. If I want to save it, it wants to save it in quicktime format only, because i need to buy quicktime If I want to save it as another file, such as mp3. how can I download them and save them as a standard mp3 so I can go portable? without purchasing quicktime?
what client are you useing to get the podcasts? iTunes? iPooder? iPodderX? Somethign else?

None of the above. I navigate (w/firefox) to the podcast, click to download individual episode, quicktime opens and starts the cast, plays fine, but when I right click the downarrow to save as source, i get a message that tells me to buy quicktime to enable this feature and many others, so now i can't even save it as anything at all now.

Here is what I do... when Rob adds a new show.. there is a logo that says "pod"... I right click that logo and select "save target as" and that saves it on my computer... and I open it up, it will play on the player of choice on my laptop... ie.. windows media player, iTunes, etc....
oh, ok.. this is an easy one...
first option (my preference): use a client, like itunes (or any other) and subscribe to the feed. thsi will auto downlaod the episodes, once they are downloaded you can drag them and drop them wherever you want.
Second option (easiest): instead of clicking the "download here" button for the episode, right click the link and select "save link as" (the exact option will vary from one browser to another) then the file willl download, and you can play it as you wish

Ok i installed Itunes subscribed to http://feeds.feedburner.com/Talkingreef and told it to get all episodes. However, it only downloads epsd 29. how do i get it to download all of them?
by default it will only download the most recent episode.
if you expand the talkingreef feed (using the little triangle to the left of the name), you will get a list of all the episodes in the feed.
the ones you dont have will be grey, and to the right will be a button that says "get"
just click that "get" button and they will download. (iTunes will only download 3 at a time) you can "get" all of them, but after the third it will queue up and the 4th one wont start until 1 of the first 3 finish and so on

That did the trick, I got all the episodes, but I am just full of problems. It might be easier (not cheaper) to get an ipod. for instance the first two intro and nitrogyn cycle, play real slow. from ther to about 26 or 27 play fine, the last few don't play at all. so I don't know.
wow... i cant say i know what would cause that...
