could someone please id this weird hitchiker:eek:

it is a cigar shaped creature, as far as i can tell.it goes under the rock out of sight
it closes up with the squirt of a turkey baster.

Reallllly? interesting. Can you see a tube of sorts? Is it truly sessile or just being stubborn and refusing to move out of a hidey hole?

definately seems sessile been there for 2 months (since i noticed it)and is slowly growing up the rock cant see any tube there is an open area wich could be an orifice, have circled in this photo

will squirt with turkey baster tomorow and get a closed shot of it

is there any chance it could be a coral? or it could be a space slug waiting for unaware space cruisers to enter its mouth

and here is the "space-slug coral" closed up
no need for the turkey baster it closed up by itself after capturing an unwary:crazy: space cruiser

hmmm, it LOOKS like a Polychaete flatworm, but they move. unless it is munching on something for the past 2 months.

You HAVE to bring that over to Ron Shimek and ask what that is.... he's on the Marine Depot forum. If it moved I would say a flatworm.

Could it be some sort of sponge? The little openings look reminiscent of a sponge.

Very cool though...awesome colors. I love how did the photo-montage...

Yep.
Been doing some reseach, a friend of mine has lots of these. 90% chance it is a tunicate. Still looking for a latin name for it.
