I was think on setting up a quarantine tank. The same size a my small FW tank 3g and was wondering if that would be to small. And If I could get away with submersible filer in it. I could set up a 5g but wanted to stay small. So it would fit on the same stand as the FW tank. Let me now what you think is best.

Hey Keith,
I am a big believer in QT! The short answer to your question is it depends on what you are QTing. But, 3 gallons is small. You could have salinity issues due to evaporation. You can run a QT tank with just a air driven sponge filter, a HOB is not required nor is LR or LS.

corals aren't a major problem, however depending on size of your new fish edditions will answer your question.Although keep one thing in mind, your tank experiences problem in the worst possible way @ the worst possible time. Is it enough to hold your current stocking list at a min for an unspecified period of time till you sort your issues?
Well after thinking about it like 10 minutes. No more like after making dinner and eating. I thought about it and think I'm going to get a 5g. A 10g would be pushing it. But I have the room to setup a 10g now that i think of it. let me think her for a second.
Ok I'm back lets see I'm going to setup a 10g. I can move the FW tank it's not to big. I can find some were els for it.
Now I got a HOB for a 10g that I saved to run carbon if I need to. But would that be good enough? Or should I get the sponge filter.?
I have cursed coral would that be good enough for it? I could put live rock in it. But doing all this sounds like setting up another reef tank.:D
Well if I set this one up. That gives me a good reason to go out and buy a better heater then. cause the one I have in my 29g seems to small for it anyway.

Hey I haven't seen you around In along time. You got try to keep in touch more brother.
Well I was think on get some different snails. What ever I can seem to find around here. A Dwarf zebra Hermite crab. That's all for the cleaner side. Now for fish 2 Ocellaris Clownfish. Then for coral ReefBaby pointed me to Sacophytons. So I was think on getting a green Polyp Leather, a toadstool brown, and a Porites yellow. Oo and V I can get Australian coral around here to. From the same place I got my rock.

KISS principle bud, simple water changes is pretty much all you need in reality. Dont add rockwork cause its a haven for nasties, not to mention when the QT is inactive your starving bacterial populations due to no load making the idea futile!
On the other note, im trying to get around more. gradually increase ok bud! Sweet on the OZ availibilties bud
So just some crushed coral on the bottom will be good enough.

BB bud. base painted! shelter for fish, power head, heating & lighting if needed & thats it! Just add water & observe over the QT period
