i purchased a new fuzzy dwarf lion about 2 weeks ago and he will not come out all he does is hide. I see him everyday in between rocks etc. but will not come out and eat, i dont no how hes made it this long and nobodys been messing with him he just shy. i need some suggestions on what to do to feed him.

Depending on the size of your lion I would try to feed him either rosy reds, small goldfish, or guppies. I have had the best luck feeding rosys to lions who were shy. I would have a seperate tank for the feeders that way you can "gut pack" them using good quality food that will be passed to the lion. I would feed them one or two at a time every other day.

You are aware they require live food, aren't you?

If the other suggestions made here do not work, you might want to get some ghost shrimp and put them in your DT. They will stay alive until your lion decides to eat them and you should be able to purchase them at your LFS if you can not collect them in the wild yourself. At least this way, he will have access to a food source when he does decide to eat. I personally use only live marine food sources as freshwater fish/ livestock for feeding purposes die quickly due to the salt content and also have too much buoyancy and tend to stay at the top of the tank. I did the freshwater live food one time and that was it for me. Also if you have too much flow going on in your tank, that could be another factor that comes in to play. I had to gradually increase my water flow in the Dt for my lion to adjust and adapt to his environment. Just a thought.

I'd really, really, really, try not feeding it fresh water fish. They don't contain the proper marine HUFAs etc. that are needed. To boot, they can introduce nasties!

I've seen lots of marine ghost/grass/glass shrimp in the Dallas/Ft. Worth pet stores. That'd be a better option. Some LFS even sell salt water feeder fish.
