As Im looking for ways to affix something to my glass to make things more iteresting (even my overflow box I guess) I noticed my thermometer with suction cup. Has anyone tried this? Is it common and I am trying to reinvent the wheel? I'm thinking ones with clips for macro (codium) for starters.

I have a macro clip with a suction cup. It doesnt stick very well. Suction cups are not great, they will always fail eventually.

I would never trust suction cups. If they cant reliably hold a veggie clip on, why would you trust one to hold something important.

you could try making a hanger out of acryllic

What are you trying to attach? Equipment? Macro? Corals?

Laura, Magnets are wonderful. You can use smaller sizes and glue them to acrylic disks and other media and use a second on the outside of the tank or overflow wall. Eventually, the corals and such will encrust on the glass, and you can take out the outside magnet. The one inside is inert and won't cause problems.

Until they do encrust, you can move them around until you are sure you have them where you want them.

That magnet idea sounds great! So, macro clips with suction cups have already been thought of hugh? Its just that my thermometer sticks so well, and suction cups are so innexpensive... I hadnt thought farther than than using it for macro, mainly because I dont know what looks good this way yet. Still new to the idea. Making a hanger out of acrylic? Tell me more:up:

I use these guys for corals, but you could use them for pretty much whatever you want.

Aqua-Mags (http://www.aqua-mags.com/)

The guys who make and sell them are in my local reef club.

an acryllic hanger for something will only work if you have a non-euro style tank. To make the hanger, you can bend a strip or acryllic into a U shape and hang it over the side of the tank. You can then glue whatever you want to it

I just need enough to cover a corner overflow. 3' maybe???

The mags atr $18.00 a 3 pack. I don't think 10 is enough to qualify for a volume discount, but if you want a 3-pack, I can score that for you.
