I was just curious what others feel about the claims made by New Life International and their Spectrum foods. You can find what I'm referring to here: Basic Fish Nutrition (http://nlsfishfood.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=29&Itemid=63).

It's a rather lengthy read, so here's a brief summary: Basically they claim that their food is the *only* food you need to feed your fish. It contains high quality ingredients and provides all of the nutrients our fish need. They compare it to how dog owners typically feed their dogs the same dry food for the life of dog and that dogs are healthier and live longer than ever before. In fact, they go so far as to say that feeding a combination of other foods will actually reduce the benefits of just feeding Spectrum foods.

Of course, as a rule I'm always skeptical of manufacturers' claims and this claim seems very hard to believe. I do currently feed NLS (in combination with frozen foods) and all of my fish eat it. The thought of being able to simplify the feeding process as well as having healthier fish is certainly a wonderful idea.

Anyway, I'd just like to know what other's feel about this. Since I already have their food, I may try their "10 day claim" and see if I notice anything different in my fish.

New Life International has a good pelletized food no doubt about it. Like all pellet food I use, I use it sparingly. If you watch his video, the fish go crazy over this food. To get that effect with any food, simply hold off feeding for a day or two, set up the camera start shooting and throw in some food, any food, even frozen brine. So my opinion is they are as good as the competition, maybe better. I also believe natural foods, whether fresh live or frozen are better than processed foods no matter their ingredients. Variety is the key.

To me this claim is hogwash!!!

#1. The nutritional needs of dogs are more well known than those of fish.
#2. There is one genus and species of dog and thousands of fish!

I thought the same thing about their claims. The only reason I even really gave it second thought is because I read several postings/responses on a different site (intials wwm) regarding this food. While they did not go so far as to recommend feeding only NLS, they did say that it could be used as a staple food.

I imagine that it is a reasonably good food. As a matter of fact I thought about adding in my first post that I don't know why manufacturers of good products make outrageous claims that make them look like they are selling snake oil.

I agree with Dick that this is a very good food. i have used it for years. But I feed it once or twice a week at most. Variety is the key here folks, despite any claim made by any manufacturer.
