So, they guys in my local club are the BEST!

We have one particular longtime member who is the nicest guy you'd ever want to meet. Unfortunately, his eyesight has been failing the last several years, and he is now legaly blind. He still does an excelent job maintaining his tank, and it's one of the best looking in town. However, he relies on the local club members for assistance from time to time, when he needs to do something he can not see well enough to do. I've been helping him out a bit lately as he prepared to sell off his 120 and transfer his livestock to a 220. He's selling the 120 with the stand, canopy, lights, sump, skimmer, chiller, pumps, etc. Everything besides rock and livestock. While I've been helping him out, I've been complaining about my skimmer, an Aqua-C EV180. So, yesterday, he tells me he just needs a skimmer to go with the tank, and would I be interested in trading my skimmer for his 3 month old Deltec APF600!

So, it does without saying, the trade offer was accepted, and the Deltec is cranking away under my tank. I now understand why Deltec has the reputation it does. This thing is a BEAST. It pulled more in the first 12 hours than my old skimmer pulled in the last 12 days!

Here is the result of ~24 hours of skimming.

nice score...but dial the water level down! That thing should be pulling stuff that looks more like Guiness, not Bud Light.

Nice score, but its skimming too light.

Deltec is overrated

Yeah, I know, I'm still tuning it. Contrary to instinct, increasing the airflow makes it skim dryer, not vice versa.... Anyway, I saw the skim it was producing on the previous owners tank, and Guiness is a good description. I'm working on it.
