http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/tr-contests/6075-photo-month-contest-rules.html Phurst 03-14-2008, 11:23 AM Is there a theme, or just wide open? lReef lKeeper 03-14-2008, 11:33 AM wide open for now, BUT MUST BE REEF / SW related !! lReef lKeeper 03-14-2008, 11:36 AM all the posting about this last night ... and no one has entered anything ??!! Phurst 03-14-2008, 12:01 PM MUST BE REEF / SW related !!

Dave lReef lKeeper 03-16-2008, 11:22 PM sorry buddy, but "staff" can not enter. :madmad: JustDavidP 03-17-2008, 09:02 AM Then I quit :tongue2:
Kidding.. of course. Can't quit a "family".
BUT.. I'm going to post my piccies in there anyways... just to make things interesting. Unless y'all gang up on me and tell me otherwise.
Dave Jenn4183 03-20-2008, 10:28 PM About the pic......
what kinda pic you looking for?
fish?
coral?
whole tank?
and then where do we post the pic at?? lReef lKeeper 03-20-2008, 10:36 PM anything this month, future contests will be themed Amphibious 03-20-2008, 10:40 PM I think we post them right here in this thread, Jenn. I'm searching through my pics looking for something special. Jenn4183 03-20-2008, 10:49 PM Is it one photo per person?
or can i do 1 fish and 1 coral? Amphibious 03-21-2008, 12:04 AM I think we can enter two pics, Jenn. Here's a link to the rules - http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/tr-contests/6075-photo-month-contest-rules.html Amphibious 03-22-2008, 10:07 AM Is everyone too busy to enter the contest? Too shy to be the first? I've seen some awesome photos from many of you guys and girls. What's up?
I respectfully make a motion we grant an extension of the deadline to Saturday the 29th. Is there a second? Yes, I second the motion, too. And, since I'm the Grandfather of TR, I expect a little respect and know the powers to be around here will grant my request. (HA, yeah, right :rotfl:)
So, that being said and done here's my first entry to get things going...
http://www.theculturedreef.com/Sohal-3-14-08-4.jpg
My Sohal Tang, Acanthurus sohal, purchased in June of '06 at 3 1/2" now 6"+. This is a great fish for those willing to fill there needs. Tangs need swimming room. They are powerful swimmers capable of bursts of speed that are blurring to the eye and camera. An aquarium of 6' in length is a minimum, abundant rock work for hiding when alarmed and a varied diet. The diet should include marine based veggies in the form of red and green Gracelaria, dried Nori (even though a bit processed it is still marine based, easy to find, feed and beneficial), Mysis shrimp, and other foods available at your LFS. The important thing, with all fish, is variety.
Now, if the powers to be here, decide to cancel the contest due to lack on interest (I can't imagine a lack of interest), then I will withdraw my photo in order to preserve my right to enter it again in the future when interest builds.
OH, how does everyone feel???
Dick lReef lKeeper 03-22-2008, 01:53 PM i second Dicks suggestion. not enough entries to close it yet as Davids, Christis, and mine can not be counted. CarmieJo 03-23-2008, 02:20 AM I am OK with that too. veriann 03-25-2008, 02:38 AM Ive done abit of secret recon on people's participation levels.
Even in stealth monkey mode, this is all ive found at the moment..... The rest are surfers too damn far out to see them properly!
http://media.philly.com/images/20071209_inq_tr1barb09-a.JPG mysterybox 03-25-2008, 08:39 PM Let the games begin!
the first one is supposedly an ORA Acropora Tenuis with actinic lighting only.
The second one is a ORA Acropora Tortuosa having some issues which have since been corrected. However, since it was healthy, but having too much flow & phosphates it has become truly unique, especially since it is now thriving. mysterybox 03-25-2008, 08:42 PM the file was too big! oops...........so that would be backwards!
here comes the tenuis! mysterybox 03-25-2008, 08:44 PM just a canon xt with a 60ml macro and an amateur! Jenn4183 03-25-2008, 09:01 PM Ok here are some pics of mine.
Red/Orange Lobo Brain under the actinic lighting.

http://www.theculturedreef.com/StaryBlenny-3-22-08-1.jpg
A Starry Blenny sits on top of a colony of Zoanthids high in the water column, seemingly about to say something. He's been with me for nine months. A nice addition to a reef tank, peaceful and always poking his head out of somewhere.
Dick Jenn4183 03-26-2008, 12:45 AM awww he is a cute little guy! Nice pic Amphibious! veriann 03-26-2008, 02:51 AM i love it, he even has a few polyps on his head in case he's to lazy to open his mouth...lol

These are my two favorite animals in my tank. They are a tiger pistol shrimp and his best friend "yellow fish" a.k.k. the yellow watchman goby. The shrimp and goby have been paired from day one, about 1.5 years. The shrimp is an amazing tunnler. He always has a project, or major construction site. It is great fun to watch him move sand, small and not so small rocks, and coral...well moving the coral isnt so fun. He hid my favorite coral from me. It was a wonderful little green and brown plate coral that I grew from a small single tenticle to the size of a 50 cent peice. No more corals on the sand bed, I learned. These great creatures always provide an interesting show. CarmieJo 03-26-2008, 11:08 PM If you would like to enter you need to post your picture in this forum http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/contest-entries/. Only you and the mods will be able to see the entry at this time. The entries for this month close on the 29th! If you have posted a photo here and not in the entry forum please repost it there. Amphibious 03-26-2008, 11:36 PM Oh, well that's nice to know, thanks. :rotfl: mysterybox 03-26-2008, 11:46 PM that thread doesn't allow me to post my pic? what am I doing wrong?
