I have a 35 gallon hex tank that is 23" deep and 20" from point to point at the top. I figure that I could fix a fixture that is 14"-15" long nicely. All I can find though is 12", 20", and up.
I want to go with T5 and keep both softies and LPS. Possibly a clam if it will work.
Can any one point me in the right direction?

since hex tanks are taller than normal, you might want to consider a Viper style MH (150w) light. then the clam would be more suitable, IMHO.

If you want to keep clams I would go with a MH light. You can probably find a 150w MH for about $150-$200

I agree with the above. Hex tanks are a little goofy to light, although they are cool looking, and a single MH will probably work best.

I would pass on the T5s for the shorter lengths. I love T5s but they aren't as good a value for the shorter bulbs. I would consider a single MH as well.
