I am getting ready to purchase some live rock and cure it in a Rubbermaid container. I have a couple of questions.

First, I am planning on putting the container on my enclosed porch. I live in Florida and the hot weather is approaching so I'm curious if the water can get too warm, or is there an acceptable range of temps for the curing process?

Second - it is mandatory that a skimmer be used during the curing? Some say a good powerhead is all that is needed.

Thanks.

I know plenty of people who have cured without a skimmer. I think I'd use one if I could, but not worry about it if you can't. As far as temp, you're going to want to keep it within reef parameters to maximize the life that survives on it.

he he Phursts on top of it exactly! If you dont have a small skimmer and go the powerhead route, do yourself a big favor and pop one of those $1.99 sponge filters on it, it'll do a good job of pulling the larger waste out and you can get some export by cleaning the sponge once in a while.
