Hey! Does any body know where I can find a lighting requirement guide?

I have a line on a pair of 175w mogul base, outdoor fixtures. My only question is will/should I use one or two or are they to large for my planned tank.

It is a 36Lx12Wx18T, 32g. I had thought about a couple of 70w work light retro's, but now this deal came up.

I think (2) 175's will totally torch the tank and one will be to bright in the middle and to dim at the side.

Okay, I'm done rambling.....

Thanks for the input

hmmmmm...lighting requirement guide, not that I can think of. Let us know what you plan to keep and we might be able to help more.

I have 2x175 on my 65 (36x18x24) and I am not torching it. I know yours is smaller, but I think you need 2 to spread the light on the 36" tank. Do you have a center brace on the top? If so, even more reason to go with 2 IMO. I suppose you could always move the lights higher off the tank to cut back the light, but not very economical.

I don't have a center brace, it's just a standard glass tank.

I would like to keep higher light inhabitants, like clams, sps and probably an anemone. I am thinking of mounting one light in the middle, the light should still be bright enough to keep some lower light inhabitants at the ends. The guy has a pair, so I will probably buy them both just for the ballast if nothing else.

I am just concerned that it will be to bright for the tank, I guess I can move it higher......

I was thinking that I will have to make a hood, I was planning to wait an see just how bright it is.

As far as cost, I was thinking about running a couple of actinic and maybe 10k fluorescents on a morning afternoon schedule. I would only run the MH for a few hours in the middle of the day.

Sorry, if this post seems to ramble....I am ready for bed.
