View Full Version : Talkingreef Live Update Hello everyone i wanted to update you all on a few items regarding the Talkingreef Live show.
Show Length - Based on user feedback the show will not be limited to 30-45 minutes. In fact, we will make an effort to allow the show to run as long as needed to answer all open questions on the show. I do need to keep some controls around show length, but there will be no official show length.
Intro Topics - Intro topics will remain, we are going to continue to shoot for about 10-20 minutes on these topics. if you have suggestions for topics, you can post here or in a new thread
Open Discussion - A new section of the show will be starting. At the end of all shows i will be opening up the lines to allow all live participants to have open discussions with who they want. it will basically be a free forum for conversation. I will try and control this to about 15 minutes or so, just so the over all show is not too excessive.
Regular Podcast Shows - A common question is will the regular podcast shows be returning. The answer is that they likely will, i just have not had the time to sit down and get them together. I may also be working a new format where we do live shows with a guest. I will interview the guest like i would in a normal show then we can allow for user participation and questions with the guest.
If you have any questions or other suggestion, please do let me know. Reefbaby 02-11-2008, 06:46 AM Great Rob! Although the Live shows are nice to listen to, I'll be looking forward to the normal podcasts with interviews again!
Thanks so much for all your hard work! veriann 02-15-2008, 05:18 AM Robbo where for are thou robbo?
I have to be honest, i haven't listened to a pod cast in a long time, so by the time rob's radar does turn back to TR - i'll prob wouldn't even have noticed the difference. but just think, i'll have plenty of time on my hands to listen to them when i go into Nimfo rehab!!!!! Got some nasty habbits to kick & its only only place that believe a talking reef addiction is the cure..,muhahhaha i also have to admit one issue with the regular shows is i have covered almost every topic that "i" and familiar with.. so it makes it difficult to come up with more ideas..
so if you have ideas, please let em know.. if i can cover them i will Why don’t you do a video/audio show on how you feed your tank and on how to feed other fish/coral. Plus you could do one on dieses and how to treat them. Reefbaby 02-17-2008, 10:26 PM Rob - there's probably a better thread to post this...but, I would LOVE to see a frag video on how best to frag a sarcophyton softy. I've got one that's about 12 inches in diameter and taking over my tank!! I'm too scared to kill the thing! disease is not an area i can talk about. as for the feeding, that is something i might be able to work with, let me see what i can do.

This is a fragging video i have been waiting to do.. i have a toadstool leather, and it is not getting back to fragging size. i could frag it again for a video. i have fragged it before, but that was before i was doing videos of coral fragging. lReef lKeeper 02-18-2008, 10:32 PM i have an article already posted on the site about how to frag a toadstool ...

Reefbaby 02-19-2008, 06:26 PM Bobby - I saw your thread previously....thought it was super informative and helpful, by the way. However, my toadstool is humongous and I don't even know where to start with it. It's about 12 inches in diameter. Would I have to cut a ring around the whole outer edge of it? Is that the best way? I'd actually like to break it down even more, because it's getting so big that it's actually getting in the way! CarmieJo 02-29-2008, 09:58 AM Christi, I had a huge one donated for a fragging demo. I cut a big donut off the umbrella and then cut that up into pieces that were roughly 1x1". I recently talked to the lady who took the stem home and she said that it looks great and is growing like a weed! lReef lKeeper 02-29-2008, 10:48 AM Bobby - I saw your thread previously....thought it was super informative and helpful, by the way. you can take as much as you want off of the cap. if you take 2" off of the cap ... it will remove 4" if you go all the way around the edge at 2". you can probably get about 15 frags of the leather doing it that way. i do it that way because i trade them to LFSs for credit.
you can actually cut the stalk into 4 sections and make 4 large colonies out of the one you have.
i was going to do a video on doing it that way, but not many people have toadstools THAT big, so i went with the cap cutting.
all you do is slice the cap and stem into sections, like a pie. then you can attach the "frags" to other rocks using pretty much the same method as in the article, or for huge "frags" you can use yarn to secure it.
HTH ... if i can find a toadstool big enough, i will try to get a video up of this method for you. Reefbaby 02-29-2008, 07:14 PM thanks guys...I appreciate the tips. I may try taking off like 2-3 inches around the whole plate. That way I would cut down the diameter by approximately half. That would already help. I'd like to still have the mother coral, since I think it looks nice and I DO have a large tank for it thrive in. I'll let you guys know when I get brave enough to actually attempt this! :D BrianPlankis 03-13-2008, 12:38 AM Rob,
You could try to schedule Eric Borneman to talk about diseases, he knows PLENTY about that.
Brian CarmieJo 03-23-2008, 02:55 AM Diseases would be a great topic. Ya I think so to. I would like to know all I can about diseases. Before I get them so I can prevent them from happening.
Thanks for listing all.
