I've got my QT tank setup and was wondering about cycling. My DT is currently fishless cycling and I wanted to add my first fish to the QT so that I can introduce him to the DT when its done cycling. In the future I plan on keeping the QT empty and stored away when not in use. I will keep a sponge or filter media in the DT sump to be "colonized" by bacteria in order to be able to throw in the QT at moments notice. Right now I obviously can't do that as the DT is unstocked and cycling. I plan on just monitoring the QT's parameters daily and performing frequent water changes. Anyone see a problem with this? Or have another suggestion?

You should be OK with daily monitoring and water changes as necessary. This article Reefreaders - Quarantine Now! (http://www.reefreaders.com/content/view/22/1/) may be helpful.

The only thing you really need to keep in check is the ammonia level. Like Carmie said, small water changes should take care of it.
