Hey all-

I bought a Stylophora pistillata Coral today, and I found a tiny (1/4") brownish-pink hairy crab in the branches picking at either the polyps or slime (cannot tell). I was able to separate him and too a few photos. Sorry for the lack of DOF. His eyes are green, and his claws are white and orange.

I did a few searches so far with no positive ID. Can anyone tell me what he is, and whether he is good/bad?

Thanks!

all of that hair leads me to think that he is one of the bad ones, but it is kind of hard to tell.

Thanks all. It may be a juvenile Pilumnus sayi crab. Here is a google image link to a thumbnail (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.dnr.sc.gov/marine/sertc/images/photo%2520gallery/thumbnails/Pilumnus%2520sayi%2520thumb.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.dnr.sc.gov/marine/sertc/Crustacean%2520gallery.htm&h=75&w=90&sz=17&hl=en&start=2&um=1&tbnid=pLvJ5YwsUpey5M:&tbnh=65&tbnw=78&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dpilumnus%2Bsayi%2Bcrab%26svnum%3D10%2 6um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dsafari%26rls%3Den%26s a%3DN) of one. You can pull up a larger image on the same page.

I do not think the one I have has as much hair (spikes?) on the claws and mine is a bit more red-brown than the picture, particularly the body.
