I thought I posted this the other day but can't seem to find it. Anyone have any suggestions on a good filtration method for QT tanks? Obviously you don't want to use a skimmer since it may skim out medications, so what would be your best bet to keep water quality at its best? Just daily water changes?
Thanks!

i would just use a power filter with carbon pads. of course you will have to remove the carbon pads when you medicate, but QT is more of an observation period and the inhabitants should only be treated if you notice a problem.

yeah copper is the best deal. and for a filter you can use a chepo corner filter. you really dont need much in there honestly. good luck on the medication

OH, and be SURE to test the copper level everyday !! you have to be extremely careful with it.

"corner filter" you mean just a regular HOT filter? I have a millennium 2000 filter on the QT tank. I took the media filter out of it and really just use it to aerate the water. I thought the media filter had carbon pellets in it. It does have a removable bio grid which i left in. Figured that the bio grid wouldn't hurt. I am doing daily water changes, 10-20%. But the only trouble is when doing that kind of daily water change keeping the copper levels elevated since I am replacing so much water daily. I am using CFX Parasite Terminator copper. the bottle suggests keeping copper levels @ .15 ppm for 17 to 21 days and for flukes keep it .3 ppm for 17 days.

I use a bio-wheel filter on my QT tank.
