View Full Version : Looking for southern erectus seahorsefan 01-10-2008, 12:13 AM Hi everyone,
I am looking to buy some southern erectus, preferable cb, but I might consider wc ones since it is getting harder to find cb ones. I know DanU comes highly recommended, but I believe he is out of stock right now and Draco closed, so who is left?
Has any one ordered from the Northeast Brine Shrimp company? Livestock (http://mariculturetechnology.com/Livestock.htm) They claim to have tr small guys, but the rest may be wc.
I really want to mix up my genetic stock and my current broodstock haven't been breeding since I redesigned my tanks. I have several tanks and I had to move them briefly to smaller tanks while I got their new setups ready.
I'd appreciate any insight into this company if anyone has any!
A Amphibious 01-10-2008, 08:44 AM seahorsefan,
http://www.theculturedreef.com/welcome.gifto Talking Reef Forum, and so much more.
I have visited Northeast Brine Shrimp company and talked with the owner Michael McMaster. While I can't say I know him, I would trust him based on my visit and tour of his facility. I know once my aquaculture facility is up and running I will be doing business with Mike.
Here is another source for horses I also trust, Seahorse Source, the ultimate place for captive bred seahorses. (http://www.seahorsesource.com/index.html) Have you looked into them? seahorsefan 01-10-2008, 09:36 PM Thanks! I will definitely consider buying from Mike then. Seahorsesource is out of stock currently I had heard. Amphibious 01-10-2008, 10:45 PM I called Mike today and had a nice chat with him. He remembered my visit. Mike said he had some horses in stock. Give him a shout.
Dick Seahorsedreams 01-12-2008, 10:06 PM If you go to Seahorse.org there are always hobbyists that have some for sale and some are even shipping. There is a forum there for that. A lot of them are Dan's "relatives". Good to see you to M8. aquafarmer 02-01-2008, 12:09 AM I just wanted to post that I ordered 5 WC female erectus from Northeast Brine Shrimp a few weeks ago and they are doing well in quarantine. A couple were on the skinnier side, but all converted to frozen PE mysis within the first week, and are looking a little fatter. I would order from them again. JustDavidP 02-01-2008, 08:34 AM Good for you.. keep us posted. That's a real hearty species! Easier to care for the fry too!
Dave aquafarmer 04-13-2008, 07:03 PM Just to update...all 5 females are doing great, they took to frozen real quick and fattened right up. Added males to their tank a few weeks ago and 2 weeks later our first batch of fry from them. CarmieJo 04-13-2008, 07:31 PM This post needs :pic:! Seahorsedreams 04-14-2008, 11:35 AM It sounds like you'll have a nicely stocked tank. Just remember not to mix any other horses with WC erectus. They tend to be loaded with cooties.

Oh wait...where'd I hear that before :D
I'm soooo glad I'm not married to the Hippocampus anymore. Believe me, I love them and if I were home every day, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. The problem is, you can't even take a weekend away without having to find someone to care for them.
