Hello all,

Does anyone have any experiance with the ASM G-1X skimmers? I have a 90 gallon tank and am looking for a skimmer for it. This one was kinda affordable and seems to work well according to the websites I have visited. I can't find any reviews on it.

Any and all advise would be great!

Thank you,

Dan

They are what my LFS recommends. I think that Mr. Tang has one.

OK sorry for the delay. Had a church meeting to attend.

I had a G1X on my 55 gallon aquarium for almost 2 years. I had at first a seaclone but at exactly 4 weeks, it quite foaming in the collection cup. My LFS was the vendor for ASM's and I was sold on them the first time I saw it. The construction is quit simple and very easy to put together. It only took about three hours before it started collecting skimate. Basically all I had to do is set it up and dial in the foam. I think the secret to that skimmer is to keep the foam in the center of the neck. Basically plug and play. Just keep the cup cleaned out!! I like the ASM skimmers so much that when I upgraded to my 120, I bought the G4X skimmer!!!!

You can't go wrong with this skimmer!!!!

They are good skimmers, but I think the G1 may be a bit small for a 90 unless you keep the bioload low. I had a G2 on my 72 for a couple years and liked it.

Yea

I wouldn't put the G1X on anything bigger than a 90!! But with plenty of LR and maybe a fuge, you shouldn't have any problems

Thank you all for your feedback!! This is the first site that I have been to that I actually got some good feedback from. It appears from your responses that the G-1X is to small but you all like the skimmer. Mr. Tang is going with a G-4 on a 120g tank. I will look at the G-2 or G-3 skimmers.

I have about 75 pounds of LR and a 50 gallon fuge but will have a heavy bioload I am sure.
