came home from work and found my distichopora lace coral laying on top of my purple montipora capricornis, i was gone for about 3 days, got home too late last night to look at the tank, woke up this morning and saw the two together. my lace coral lost all its color, almost like it bleached, only has a few spots that has polyps on it now, and my cap has a nice bright white burn mark on the cap from the lace, i separated them but with burn mark on the cap go away? i think maybe the lace might have gotten bleached because i recently put it in my tank up high under the light, because i heard they demanded high light. but i moved it out of the light for now to see if it will recover. the cap looks fine except the burn mark.

Monti caps are pretty resilient. Even if the spot is dead, it will likely regrow over the dead area.

i agree with Pearson. the cap will probably be fine. i have had that happen a few times. they get so big that they dont really fit where i placed them when they were smaller, so they tend to fall over and touch something else. in fact my big orange cap just did that last week. it landed on my Cythastea, while both sustained injuries ... they are both recovering nicely.
