I KNEW THERE WAS A REASON WHY I HEARD THE CALLING TO COME BACK!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLD TIMER! Amphibious 12-09-2007, 08:25 AM I must have had a senior moment. I totally missed this thread. (In my case a senior moment equals 5 days) I can't believe I missed it. Actually (a confession here), I thought you guys missed it. But, Carmie was the first to post so she gets the reward. Are you ready Carmie??? Here it comes - XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO - phew, I'm getting tired Honey. Can we take a break? The rest of you get my heart felt thanks!!!
I'm not a personal BD celebrating guy. After the big 50 they just became another day on the road of life. But, when the huge 70 came along I decided to have a few friends drop by. It turned out to be very special because of one little girl that showed up with her Grandparents. I ordered the "NO GIFTS" rule be implemented. Of course there was the usual few dissenters that brought bottles of booze. I forgave them, of course. And then there was this little girl named, Paisley. She is a beautiful, precocious little stinker who didn't follow the rules, of course. I met her a couple of months ago. I went to school with her Grandpa, Stan, nearly 100 years ago. Turns out Stan lives 30 miles North of us. Hadn't seen him in 50 years. (A story in itself)
It seems Paisley knows that little girls have or need two Grandpas and she only had one. So, she asked me to be Grandpa Dick to her. It was enough to bring tears to this old mans eyes. Many of you know I don't have any Grandchildren so I have to look for kids that "need" one. So, I eagerly accepted my new role as Paisley's other Grandpa. Here's a couple of pics of my new Granddaughter...

There it is in purple and white, "For you Grandpa, from your Granddaughter". How cool is that?

Paisley is a good influence on me, don't you think?

A more relaxed Paisley after a splash in the pool.
This BD party would have been just another old folks party if it weren't for the love of a little six year old girl.
By the way, Paisley's 7th birthday is TODAY. Guess where I'll be.
Life is grand!!! Thanks, everyone for those BD wishs. I love you guys.
Dick, now at 70 years young. Read my sig. Amphibious 12-09-2007, 07:46 PM :birthday: Guess who turned 70 today????

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OLD TIMER!

Dick CarmieJo 12-10-2007, 12:08 AM Hey! I've seen that shirt before! Paisley is a cutie. I'd give you Dominic as an honorary grandson but you would probably give him back. 19 is a tough age! Amphibious 12-10-2007, 05:58 AM Hey! I've seen that shirt before! Paisley is a cutie. I'd give you Dominic as an honorary grandson but you would probably give him back. 19 is a tough age! Thanks Carmie. I met most of the rest of the family yesterday at her BD party. Real nice people. Had a ball.
From what you tell me about Dominic, he seems like a real likable kid. At 19, he could get a bit testy, I suppose. Your right about 19 being a tough age. I don't envy anyone raising kids now days. At least with Grandkids, you get to give them back at the end of the day. :rotfl:
