Lets get some heated discussions happening again. haven't had a good TR banter for awhile, hell come to think of it - i haven't been firing on all cylinders for awhile now:huh: so lets get some interesting topics happening.

Not that i dont love your threads guys, its just there so....umm...safe!

Lets bust out of the - yep, aha, yep gotcha talk for awhile & throw the knickers to the wind so to speak. (hang on, i need a beer to watch that one :D )

now who's got a topic , doesn't have to salt related, there good to, & benifical to everyone, but certainly doesn't have to be.

wish I still had my old(!!) honda. 60mpg back in the early 80's, Whatever happened to cars that
actually had good gas mileage! Now they brag up 30 mpg, what a joke!
Maybe we could convert water into fuel, na, that would take water away from our little fishes, that would really rain on our parade:raining:

im currently cloning a new breed of minature cows i created, i actually had to grow them extra brains just so they stayed in the car. you feed em grain & a can of baked beens in the morning, then drive off the methane they produce :p

once i nut that out, its in with the mouse wheels so they can supercharge the methane flow muhahaha

You are not too far off the edge. We have farms here that are being run from the methane gas of their cows! They gotta go, so why not find a way to use it:D

OK - you're on, V. Mine are all gonna be fish related, though. How are these topics?

1. Water changes are bad and are only done by people who can't commit.

2. I've lost 25 lbs in 2 weeks on the "frozen fish food cube diet".

3. Pet Smart: the REAL reef experts.

4. Make money the quick and easy way: sell undergravel filters door to door. Just send $19.99 and I'll show you how.

5. Fish need time-outs, too.

6. World of Warcraft vs. Reef Keeping: may the real nerds win.

7. Bio-balls: they way to really impress the ladies.

8. The first annual skimmate stink-off. Register today. Judges badly needed.

9. Between our reef tanks and posting on-line: who really has a social life?

That's all I can think of now. Let the games begin ...

V, sounds like they're getting tough Down under. Be careful out there:

The New South Wales Government is fed up with illegal street racing and has decided to implement the "YouTube Law," wherein confiscated cars will be crushed in "crash test experiments" and then shown on YouTube for hoons to watch. Prompted by the deaths of two citizens in August in an alleged street racing accident, the police have confiscated nearly 300 cars for their little experiments.

Hey V,

Love the copper with the street rod. He looks a bit like you. You doing part time street racing control?

Now, I know you are a very conscientious employee V, but what is it you do all day while clocking the work pay?

hey, this dude looks nothing like me..lol

it was contriversal for those of you that are into your pontiacs, cause for once we exported our monaro's to be re-labeled as ponty's, instead of the sourcing from the american parts bin to add to our cars:unsure:

Plus i loved the pic, heat- 6 for a number plate, at least you'd be impressed being pulled over by a police force that tricked up their cars abit for general service.

OK - since nobody wants to talk about my ideas, I guess I'll talk to myself. (I'm used to it!)

So ... my wife and son are ADDICTED to WOW, and I'm addicted to my fish tanks. The question is: which is worse. So I decided to weigh the pros and cons of each. Feel free to add your thoughts.

The Pros of WOW:

1) Once you've made the intiial investment of a computer, it's realatively cheap.

2) It teaches valuable skills, like team work, planning, strategy, and how to gang up on things and kill them. All valuable life lessons.

3) Keeps kids off the street.

4) More room in my bed, as I am often going to bed alone. And occasionally waking up alone.

5) I've become a better cook. And I can do laundry now. Cool, I think.

6) There are worse things on the internet.

7) Keeps the family busy during hockey season. And football season. And baseball seaon. And ... you get the picture.

The Cons of WOW:

1) TIME SUCK: it literally is a black hole for time. You will no longer have time to do frivolous things like: exercise, eat, sleep, go to the bathroom ...

2) My son has learned words and phrases he should not know, at his age or any age.

3) Was forced to buy a third mac so that I could occasionally check my email and visit Talking Reef.

4) It's getting harder and harder to keep up with our favorite TV shows. Thank goodness for TiVo.

5) So that's what my family looks like ...

The Pros of Reef Keeping:

1) Educational - to be successful, you must learn quite a lot.

2) Relaxing - up until you realize that one coral is encroaching on another one, and why is that fish scraping, and what's that buzzing sound coming from the pump, and is that Aptasia, and ...

3) I'm really learning balance, as in balance on the ladder while stretching accross the tank to reach that back corner and scrape off that Coraline algae.

4) My friends and neighbors are really impressed. Or they think I'm crazy. I can't tell which. Probably both.

5) You get to post on Talking Reef and sound like you know what you're talking about.

6) Fish are good listeners, especially when your wife and son are busy ganging up and killing things on line.

7) Sharing coral frags with friends (one of my favorite parts).

The Cons of Reef Keeping:

1) TIME SUCK: it literally is a black hole for time. I no longer have time to do frivolous things like: exercise, eat, sleep, go to the bathroom ...

2) I have invented swear words and phrases that I should not know, at my age or any age.

3) Was forced to buy a third mac so that I could visit Talking Reef and find out what the heck I was doing wrong.

4) It's getting harder and harder to keep up with my favorite TV shows. Thank goodness for TiVo.

5) So that's what my family looks like ...

So it would appear that it's a tie. Except I neglected to mention one thing: MONEY! Yep - reef keeping can be, will be, and is quite expensive. Every time I complain about WOW, the family can lay the trump card down and ... POW ... I lose. It doesn't help that I have two large tanks.

So I guess if you must be addicted to something, WOW wins the logical argument. That said, I'll stick with my tanks, thank you.

Dana

I am so honored. I would like to thank Talking Reef for the opportunity to be a wise a**, and in particular Veriann for daring me to push the envelope. I would also like to thank my uncle, whose love of fish keeping inspired me to give it a try at a very young age. And to Blizzard, for creating WOW. And my family ... without their addiction to make fun of, none of this would have been possible. Thank you all. (He leaves the stage to the sound of akward applause.)

I have yet to play WOW. I lost a lot of my 20's to Warcraft I, II, and III along with Half-life and Counterstrike. After reading that, I dont think I want to lose my 30's to WOW.
