Now that I have finaly set up a much larger fuge area in my sump, I have moved all my cheato out of my hang-on fuge. The only things in there now are a DSB and some rubble. I;m trying to figure out what to do with it now. It's lit by 2x13w PC bulbs, and maybe 6" or 7" deep to the top of the sand bed. I was thinking of turning it into a prop section. I know it's enough light to prop shrooms and some softies, but I'd really like to grow out some zoas. Enough light? My other thought was to turn it into a xenia farm. I could grow tons of xenia in there for nutrient uptake.

Any thoughts or other suggestions? Seems like I should use it for somthing....

I also like the xenia farm idea if the xenias take to the conditions.

A cryptic fuge might be a bit dificult since it's clear acrylic, and hangs on the side of the tank, so even if I took the PC lights off the fuge, they'd still get light from the DT lights.

The're some xenia in there now I tossed in there just to get it out of the way. It's growing just fine. I have a bunch more I could add though if that's the way i wanted to go. I just don't know if farming xenia is all that helpful.

Ah yes, I forgot to add in my post that if you wanted to go with a cryptic fuge, you'd have to cover the sides of your hang on with black construction paper or black plastic sheets to cut the light out.

I'm not too sure about the nutrient export levels that xenia might afford, but I think that if you're already growing cheato, you might be better off doing some kind of cryptic fuge just for the diversity.

I think that you would have enough light for zoas.

I'm going to toss some up there and see. Best way to figure it out i guess :)

I like the cryptc fuge! Black adhesive vinyl is cheap... go to your local sign shop... or there's always KRYLON

I think you should get frustrated, and sell the HOB fuge to me for a steal...that is...if it is a 19" wide model. If it isn't that wide, I would continue to figure out what to do with it... :tongue2:
