hello, as many of you know i have been running The Talkingreef Community for a long time now. I am continuously working to add new functionality, and work to use the best web technology out there for our community. One thing i am always struggling is that a forum system like we use here is SO FULL of feature, and yet most people have no idea they are even there, let alone how to use them.

So i came up with the idea of doing screencasts**, short videos about 30 sec's up to a minute or two. In these videos i would show how to use parts of the community site. items like the rep system, advanced searches, marking forums read, advanced forum tools, editing techniques, etc.
these videos would be posted on the talkingreef website, available for live viewing using YouTube or Google Video, and would also be available to download in a higher res version.

Please jump in with your ideas, do you think this is something the community would benefit from? it really is not a lot of work to create them so i think its worth it.

**Screencasts are videos made by recording a computer screen. you see what i am doing on the screen, they include audio and voice over as direction

If they're not hard to produce, I say go for it. I think I get around here OK, but I'm sure there's loads of stuff I'm missing.

Even if they were just periodicaly added to a locked forum, they'd be a good reference for noobs and verterans alike.

I think this is a good idea. As was said before i can get around, but i'd be nice to use some of the more advanced features.

Again, if it doesn't take up too much time from the regular podcast... i'd say go for it!
