This is probably a stupid question and I think the answer will be NO. But anyways.

I was wondering are there any corals that can live in very, very, weak lights.

If there are just list them and tell me what they require as far as light.

Thanks.

How weak? There are non-photosynthetic corals like sun coral but they must be fed and I would not consider them a beginner coral. Zoanthids, xenia and many other soft corals will do well under PC lights. Remind us of the specifics of your system and we can be more helpful.

There are a number that require no light at all. While some are very atractive, they tend to be more demanding in their care. Mushrooms can also get by in pretty low light. What kind of lighting/tank are we talking about here?

Thanks for the help, everyone on this sight has been great. The lighting is horrible. It is on a 36 gallon corner tank I want to convert to saltwater. I thought I would have no coral, but I would love to have a few, so I posted this. I am ashamed of the lighting! It is a just 15 Watt fluorescent. I never really needed any special light for my tank. I will upgrade eventually.

Well, you might be ablr to get away with a couple of things at the very top of the tank. I'm affraid you're pretty much out of luck with that light though....

YUP, i would suggest at least some PC's to have any coral. unless you want to spend a lot of time feeding every polyp of the non photosynthetic corals.

I think xenia or shrooms would be ok imo

Do you all think I could have an xenia or shroom, like tim said, if I piled some rock very high and placed it there?

I think you'd be OK. I don't know that they'd thrive, but they should make it OK. I'd be less concerned about the 'shrooms.

thats a broad statement. live yes do well not really over long term. I would start saving my pennies and get the right light for the job.
