Wondering if my live sand is now dead sand?

If so can I just purchase a small amount of live sand to repopulate it?

Is there risk of getting ich infested live sand?

I'm not certain on the effects of copper on Nitrobacter and Nitrosomonas bacteria/anerobic de-nitrifying bacteria, but your 'pods, micro brittle stars and tiny inverts should be pretty close to wiped out if you dosed to direction.

Sure, but the less you get, the slower going it will be. And be sure there is no trace of copper in the water.

Absolutely, though if you get the sand from a healthy established tank, you should be fine.

Good luck!

Are your fish in QT? If so you could try challenging the tank by adding pure ammonia and seeing how efficiently it is converted.
